[See? This is how it works!]

... I was still half asleep when I wrote that!

The body makes adjustments from time to time. Weight loss, even with full compliance, is like a crossword puzzle. Maybe that simile only makes sense to a XWP enthusiast (LOL!): Sometimes down, sometimes across, with blank spaces that seem inert but are necessary so that the rest of the results make sense.

I made three supermarket trips, twice late yesterday afternoon and again last evening, for laundry detergent, fresh green peppers and yellow onions to make bunless Philly Cheesesteaks for dinner (amazingly good to me; "okay" to my husband), and blueberries, nuts (whole raw almonds, pecan pieces, walnut halves), and real whipped cream (in an aerosol can -- zero carbs) for desserts this week. I kept forgetting my husband's "whipped topping" (2g carbs per 2T-serving) and had to keep going back!

I was distracted from completing my mission by my field research on grams of net carbs in all those protein and "diet" snack and meal bars. There was one brand (I forget which) that equaled SlimFast"s Keto meal bars (two "whipped" flavors) -- 6g net carbs per bar, 30g net carbs per "single-serving box" of five -- which is how I'd end up eating them! The other product is available in single bars, about 3" x 1/2" x 1" -- two or three bites at most -- that would only stimulate my longing for more.

It got me "curious" about the candy bars I like and got me picking them up, one by one, to read the Nutrition Facts. That's as close as I've come to even touching those things since Christmas, when I found one in my stocking from Santa. A risky proposition!

Once again, I triumphed over the urge to buy and eat one candy bar ... or five ... as was my habit. I've heard it said that it takes 21 days to break a habit. Not this one! One would become a binge, and a binge would begin a months-long slide into carblivion!

The difference between all the stabs at this before, and now, is asking God's help every day to keep me sane, in addition to the support I receive here on FS and daily food logging and journaling. Nothing else has ever worked, or lasted as long, as this.
