59Carol's Journal, 14 January 2019

I have gained a half pound since my last weigh in 9 days ago. I couldn't be more pleased!!! Considering the last 9 days this is a huge victory.

The first night was my 60th birthday and my daughter and sister made us a feast. Not calorie friendly but lots of delicious comfort food.

Two days later, I was in the city to meet with the surgeon for my husband's up coming very invasive and very scary surgery. We had Skip the Dishes two nights neither meal was calorie friendly -- Vietnamese and East Indian. Delicious but not calorie friendly.

We were in the car travelling for four days total and that doesn't always go well.

Finally a very close friend of ours died from cancer which is what my husband has while we were in the city so when it was time to go home we drove to a different city to be with their family. My husband had some health complications along the way to add to the stress. This part of the trip was totally unplanned and I was flying by the seat of my pants.

Somehow I managed to navigate the emotions, exhaustion and away from routines and still only gained a half pound. I did wake up from a dream thinking I had gained 30 pounds so clearly it was on my mind!

In the end, I claim this as a victory!!

Thank you for all of your good wishes. Birthdays are just plain fun. This Wednesday my only sibling is turning 44! An auspicious age with the double numbers. So she has requested sushi bowls and a WW Amaretto Chocolate Cheesecake. I gathered together a couple of other recipes for my father in law, husband and daughter's boyfriend who are all sushi gun shy. The party will be here so my husband can be a part of things. I bought all the groceries today and will begin prep tomorrow. I am anticipating a quieter week or two before we have to gear up for the next challenge on my husband's health front. In the meantime, I hope to drop that half pound and then some!!
