your new routine was pretty intense from memory. was it you doing timings now?
10 Dec 18 by member: keith george cooke
Yeah I vaguely remember it Your getting some cardio in whilst lifting and that's a great thing. If you had a heart rate monitor you could see your heart getting stronger mate👍

Keep me in the loop over the next few weeks, want to know if you get back to a resting heart rate considerably quicker at the end of this training cycle. That's the best way to determine a person's fitness

yeah found your old post. your getting dangerously close to F45/Crossfit hahahaha👍
10 Dec 18 by member: keith george cooke
Yeah it's a funny Crossfit/F45 hybrid. I like it, you should throw in some rowing mate.

Distance for the rowing? 500, 1500 meters.....?!?

Depends on your goals, rowing machines are brutal. Last week.... Maybe 2 weeks ago was a close to puke day hahahaha 3 X 1000m Then because I'm a loudmouth smartass 1 X 3000m Chuck benchop burpees,80kg sleds, sprints on the bikes, knee tuck pushups and 90 mins of HIIT and Keefy finally broke lol

500m sprints sort the boys from the men lol

Dude rowing is so underrated. Especially if you lift. "...it seems that cycling is superior to treadmill endurance training for an individual with the goal of developing strength in a multijoint movement (i.e., leg press or squat) in the lower-body because it more closely mimics the biomechanical movement of these exercises." https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19387377 There's at least one other with similar results. Neither looked at rowing specifically, but I'd be surprised if the same principle didn't apply. And just anecdotally I can say that I started rowing on average ~3000 m per day and my arms keep surprising me in the mirror :p

Yeah if you only have 15 mins in a gym. You can't spend the time better then on a rowing machine. Hugh Jackman used a rower almost exclusively during his prep for wolverine as an example of how much of a whole body workout they are. Won't get "swole" but if you aim is to get fit then it's a staple!

I go to Orange Theory Fitness which is group HIIT on rowing machines, elliptical or treadmill along with TRX and dumbbell work. The dumbbell work is paced so we keep our heart rates up the whole class. I love rowing and can easily do 3000 meters when pushed!

Yeah different goals, getting big vs getting fit
10 Dec 18 by member: keith george cooke
Not leading Gangsta, you want to get bigger I want to get fitter. Very different goals

Yeah, cardio rowing is no good for size, lol. Chris wants gains with the least amount of eating possible. He doesn't love to eat as much as me, haha.

What are you on about? It's great for size. Bigger is not the only size hahahahaha.
11 Dec 18 by member: keith george cooke
Obviously, I am speaking about putting on size. It isn't good at all for hypertrophy. It's good for cardio endurance.
