59Carol's Journal, 04 November 2018

Today is my 'weigh in' day for my own records. I am so disappointed that it is up. I was a pound a half less like three days ago. The rebound half pound of yesterday I figured would be gone this morning instead another pound joined it.

I can only think that last night's steak did me in. It had salt on it as per the recipe I found. Delicious but could taste the salt. The cut was well marbled otherwise known as fat and juicy. I weighed the portion and then ate a bit more so added that onto my tracker.

So today, I will be even more diligent. What other good choice is there?

My sister came by yesterday and we went for a lovely walk. It is really snowing here. We are expecting 4-6 inches of snow by tonight. Yesterday when we were walking it was already snowing. We unlocked the gate into a tiny campground in my hamlet of 65 people and walked on the roads in there. There are trees to shelter from the wind, no traffic at all ever, and quiet.

Each Saturday my sister tries to come for a walk. I really treasure those times. My sister and I are the only children of our parents however we are 16 years a part in age. She is 5 years older than my daughter and 10 years older than my son. When my mom died she was 15 and since dad had died when she was 5, she joined my family! This makes for an interesting relationship as there is the history of me parenting her as well as the age difference. She is in the same profession as me and I know her colleagues well. She also knows her niece and nephew as though they are siblings since she lived with us. Interesting perspectives for all of us!

I have not followed you before but took a look at a few of your journals. If you are still on ibuprofen from your dental work that could be the culprit. I have no idea how you eat, but for me going low carb helps...good luck

My weight is like a bouncing ball too. I'll hit a low and then I start the arc up again. I know that I'll arc downward again, eventually, but it is hard to not get impatient with myself and start thinking that I need to adjust my way of eating, but then I step back and look at what is going on around me that could be impacting my body beyond my calorie intake. I just broke a tooth and had a crown done so I'm on painkillers, I also increased to 5 lb dumbbells last week, I know I haven't been drinking enough water, I am battling a cold or allergies, I'm suspecting PMS bloating (I seem to have reversed my menopause, yay?), and then my daughter is having kidney stone problems and ended up at the ER last night. No wonder my weight is bouncing up again.

it is water weight and it will come down. if you are eating within your calorie range you don't have any problems it will come back down if you continue to drink your water. I do this all the time. when you don't drink enough water the body will hang on tight to what it does have

FrankieBluEyes- Thank you for your input! I did have some ibuprofen at 4 am this morning and I had some the day of the dental work but that is it. If it is the culprit than that should pass soon!

Conicassity it is good to hear that others have faced this as well. It is a good idea to look at the bigger picture as well. Other than my dental work my body is not under a great deal of stress and thank goodness there is no new or unexpected stress in the family. My husband is very ill but for now we are doing a plateau -- lots of medical appointments and lots of uncertainty but we are fairly emotionally calm. Basically taking a day at a time. I feel for you about your daughter -- we are always the mom, eh?

baskington - I am definitely in my calorie range but not drinking a lot of water. I have three thermoses of tea each day and a bottle of my homemade kombucha but not much in the pure water area. It has been occurring to me that water would be an easy add on.
