Day 1 of a planned 2 day OMAD (One Meal A Day)

Blood sugar 82 mg/dL

👍🏾 Did I keep my net carbs below 10? Yes!
👎🏾 Is my morning blood sugar in the 70s? No

🤸🏾‍♂️ I LOVE Carbs!

High consumption of them WILL make me fat (I have the numbers to prove it), but they are required for me to 🏋🏾 ‘lift heavy’ (and they taste great 😊!) I did not actually plan it, but I ended up consuming nearly 300 carbs on Wednesday. This is nearly a months’ worth of my normal carb intake. I had planned to go to the gym on Thursday anyway, so I decide to put my, now glycogen filled muscle cells, to good use and increased my weights by 20lbs for most of my lifts.

📉 Previous (three sets of):

Squat - 160lbs (10 reps)
Deadlift – 160lbs (6 reps)
Shrug - 160lbs (10 reps)
Ab Crunch - 120lbs (10 reps)
Bench Press - 85lbs (10 reps)

📈 Yesterday (three sets of):

Squat - 180lbs (10 reps)
Deadlift – 180lbs (6 reps)
Shrug - 180lbs (10 reps)
Ab Crunch - 140lbs (10 reps)
Bench Press - 90lbs (10 reps)

😎 Basically I hit a HUGE milestone for me. For the first time ever in my life: ** I lifted more than my own weight **

💪🏾 I put a bar on my shoulder, that was loaded with weight that was 10lbs heavier than myself, and did 30 squats. I then deadlifted it 18 times, and then followed it up with 30 shoulder shrugs. A year ago I would have a hard time even lifting 100lbs!

🧘🏾‍♂️ Lifting weight is not like losing weight, I am ‘growing’ and ‘gaining strength. This is such a “positive” process where instead of looking thinner and thinner I am trying to make my body ‘grow’. Now, there is no end in sight, because I am just getting started.

Have a great day everyone!

You are certainly on your way. Great job! Carbs are a tool and you are using them wisely just like you do with fasting.

@chesgreen - You are too kind my friend! Let's be honest, I went on a 'out of control carb binge' then afterwards, tried to pull a 'win' out of the situation by using those carbs in the gym Haha! This is fine if I was in a 'bulk' but, I *was suppose to be in a 'cut'* !

What should matter more is what you did vs what you intended. You are wiser and stronger. Don't beat yourself up so much. I am almost at a breakthrough and I am looking at the big picture of my improved behaviors vs my screw ups. You got this!!!

People ask how can I keep my carbs uner 50 and here you are under 10. Wtf. How can you keep up your exercise regiment with such low carbs?

@baskington - gRRR Came back from my run and my BS is now 86 :( Not surprised because I did my best run ever. I ran 5 miles in 50 minutes. This means my body is still coursing with glycogen. What I need to do is go back in the gym and do two sessions a day. Can't because we have a wedding to travel to...

@Alnona - The only thing I need the carbs for is to 'increase' my weights. I can maintain my weights on 10-20 carbs a day.

Good job!

Good comment Chris. Lifters don’t lose weight, but the weight redistributes itself. In addition, the muscle constantly needs fuel/calories!!

@Becca@ - I had two fat bombs yesterday, none today since I am travelling.

@Chrisw77 - My last 10lbs gain contained actual fat. I dropped the water weight, had the whoosh and pounds remained. Differrce this time is I did one day of high carb rather than 4 in a row. I believe it is not the carbs but the insulin. most people are used to their body burning calories. they dont know what it is like to have your body simply pack away the fat. this is what my numbers show. put them side by side with yours. I take in far less calories and carbs but hit th he gym hard and run. yet the scale barely moves for me. I am not doing something 'wrong', this just is the way my body is :)
