Lucybell33's Journal, 11 April 2008

Yay - another 1/2 pound down this morning! Thankfully, my body seems to be trying to make up for last week's bad behaviour, and I'm back on track to about where I was hoping to be.

Yesterday was a low cal day (1,270) and I was quite hungry for much of it. I did try to eke out the calories over the day, right up to saving my bowl of strawberries for a late night supper, but it was still tough going. Still, it's now Friday, so it's super high cal day today (1,700) - WOOHOO!!!

I did extend yesterday's scheduled Dyna-Band workout to a double session yesterday, but that was all I managed to squeeze in. Couldn't face another session from that yawningly boring Pilates DVD, so I spent some time on the net choosing some different ones to try via Amazon's DVD Rental Club, which I joined yesterday. I'm looking forward to trying out Darcy Bussell's Pilates DVD and Geri Yoga, amongst others!

Watched The Secret DVD yesterday afternoon, and I made me feel really good. I think I might have to watch it every now and again, just for the positive vibes it gives me! And on that note, here's my inspirational quote of the day:

The thing always happens that you really believe in; and the belief in a thing makes it happen

One last thing, for those that might struggle to understand some of the words and phraseology us Brits use in our posts (and vice versa for us), here's a handy (and fun) online dictionary!

Guess what? It's Friday - yay!!! Right - I've got to dash, because I've booked myself in for Body Jam (a dance workout) followed by Body Pump (a strength-training workout) at my gym this morning - I'll catch up with everyone later! :)

You are doing so well! Another 1/2 lb loss today is great! Your exercise classes you've booked at the gym sound like they will be great fun. I wonder if the Body Jam is similar to Turbo Jam. If so, I am sure you will enjoy yourself. I did check out a few pages of the dictionary and as I commented on Moonlite's journal, I found it interesting how very British we Canadians still are in our language compared with the U.S. But the difference/similarities between British/Canadian/American English makes me understand what people mean by the different "dialects" in other languages. I suppose that is what we speak.... different dialects of English!

Thanks, Evelyn! Not sure what Turbo Jam is like, but Body Jam was a very challenging, very fast step dance routine - phew!! The whole subject of language fascinates me. I understand that American English is much closer to the original Old English that the founding fathers would have spoken, whilst British English has taken on other European language influences, particularly French. Canada seems to be somewhere in the middle, probably due to a mixture of remaining part of the British Empire for so much longer, and also the strong French influence from Quebec. All very interesting stuff!! I spent three months working in a Christmas shop in Ocean City MD back in 1991 - fabulous adventure, but so funny how many words/phrases that I use were met with blank looks, eg "rubbish", "raining cats and dogs", "trainers". They were just lucky that I'm a southerner who speaks the "Queen's English" - what hope would they have had if I'd been from Newcastle with a strong Geordie accent!! ;)

Wow... awesome Leanne! You are going to leave me way, way behind you at this rate but you keep up the great work. Hee-hee... I've been having a field day looking at that dictionary link. I was in hysterics after noticing Braces in the UK are suspenders in the US. I just had this image of a guy walking into a UK shop asking for suspenders to hold up his pants! :o) Reminds me of when I went to France years ago on a school trip and the family I stayed with asked me if I'd had enough to eat after our meal. In my best french apparently I told them I was pregnant!!!! Lol... something along the lines of "Je suis plein", which of course they thought was hilarious! :o)
