I don't buy into low carb or low fat diets. I just make sure I'm burning more calories then I'm taking in. I had some tacos yesterday shells and all loaded with cheese/beans. Delicious. Seems to be working for me. I even take it easy on exercise. Making sure I walk (10,000+ steps), weight-lift for 1/2 hour, and log my food. Fitbit has been my friend.
194.0 lb Lost so far: 26.0 lb.    Still to go: 29.0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

The fact that our species has survived over the millennia is proof that our bodies can adapt to all kinds of diets and almost all circumstances. As long as we get a minimum amount of protein, calories, vitamins and minerals, the body doesn’t care about the mixture. What we consume does not direct the body how to use energy. Everything the body does is in its best interest for survival.
