Lifting Day
100+ carbs planned

⚖️ So happy I lost another pound. I thought 'bulking' was going to be a 'continual rise to the top'. I initially gained 7 pounds in 7 days so I figured I would be at 180 and need to do a 'cut' (lose weight) in another week! But, on non-lifting days, I have been low carb, no 'intense cardio' just walking (because I don't want to mess with my 'recovery' after lifting), and it seems I have stopped the 'rapid' weight gain. 🏁 Winning!

💪 Normally I would lift on Monday night, but I have to travel early Tuesday so I will lift today. I am looking forward to lifting, but, not looking forward to eating a calorie surplus.🧘🏾‍♂️ Mentally, 'eating a lot' is hard on me now...

🍔 This means I get to 'carb up' today. Again, I'm NOT looking forward to it. I already had a Big Mac on Friday, and while it was nice, it was not as nice as it was in my head when I was not allowing myself to have it...

🥣 I think I will start by eating the rest of the cereal in the house, but I have to check the expiration on the box because I haven't touched the stuff since March...

Have a great day everyone!

I’m glad your plan is going well. As you know I have certain reservations on letting go too. But if it works for your plan, so be it! You could skip the “bad” foods and eat healthier options like oatmeal and what not. It Might go down easier, since the guilt won’t be a factor. And don’t eat that stale ass cereal!!

I don't enjoy carbs any more either. You may want to try loading up on protein and get in your excess with fats. there are some really good articles on weight lifting on the keto diet. and on the carnivore diet. very similar, high fats and good protein level. As you go along testing yourself with your program, you might want to look into this option. some people just can't eat a lot of protein, you might or might not be one. excess protein works similar to carbs it knocks you out of ketosis, a balance keeps you in. I think it is Tom that has done this and should have some good links for you. He is a quiet one.

@CrashtestDawnie - I checked the cereal and it is actually good until December, but, there wasn't enough of it. I decided to have ramen noodles (700 calories - 105 carbs!).

@Becc@ - Yes her Keto meals keep me on track on days I am not lifting :)

Watching and learning! You are doing amazing!

@baskington - I am averaging 150.00g of protein a day right now because I suck down "Quest Vanilla Milkshake Protein Powder" literally like water. I 'think' that is what has helped my insane muscle growth this week. Who knows? I know that consuming it allows me to not consume carbs and still feel satisfied :) Because I am doing such high carbs (100+) 3 days a week on lifting days, I think that 'staying in Ketosis' is not an option for me :(

So glad you are seeing carbs are not bad 💪🏼

It’s a wonderful world 🌎 when you learn to eat in moderation (this depends on sex, height, activity level) and you learn that 🏋️‍♀️ is the better choice 👌🏼🥖

That initial weight gain is obvious. you have deprived your body and all of a sudden you fuel it with something different 😜 so yeah you Gain but than our wonderful body adjust, yours has adjusted 😏🙌🏼

Nice. Don't fear it, I had 623 carbs yesterday and lost fat. 🤓

@rosio19 - So far carbs do not seem to be bad for me when I am 'seriously' weight lifting. I 'believe' that the weight lifting empties out the glycogen stores that normally would turn into fat in me by my 'insulin resistant' body. Even cardio (running 5 miles 3 times a week) would not allow me to not continually gain weight while eating this many carbs. But, I am still only planning >20 carbs on 'lifting days'. I really don't like the feeling of so many carbs in my body. Actually, I now dislike the 'feeling' of food 'sitting' in my body'. I feel better when my body is in a 'fasted state'. OMAD (one Meal A Day) is now my 'happy place' :)

@Diablo360x - My current theory is that 'lifting weights makes the difference'. I used to do a LOT of cardio (running 20+ miles a week) and 'light weights' (so light let's not even bring it up...), and stayed fat (see my 8 year history here on FatSecret). It seems the changes are: A) I am no longer obese B) I am lifting weights at literally 10x the effort I was previously putting in.

Adef I get it, I don’t like the feeling of overeating either 🤮

That says our body has adjusted 😏🙌🏼👏🏻 And we can happily maintain with what we eat 😎 on a regular day

Cardio 🤮🤢🤮😷

that is great on the protein level Adef, yes you really need it when you work and that will increase to a higher level as you progress. I was not suggesting you go keto per sec, I was suggesting if you don't enjoy all the carbs, you might experiment with loading up on more fat and protein at some point. I think your progress is awesome. and with your dedication to anything you fix your mind on, you get it done!
