Day 4 of a planned 5 day fast

Lost the pound I gained yesterday :)

Looking in the mirror, I now see my stomach is STILL there :) I mean of course it is 'still' there! But, it is still 'stickling out' when I don't hold my breath and suck it in.

Let's see what happens when I hit my goal weight, will I set my goal weight lower?

On another note, I have been hitting the low carb "Quest Vanilla Milkshake Protein Powder" drink really hard because when I drink it, 'it feels like a meal'. Yeah most would not consider this a 'fast' but, I have been fasting 5 days a week for months, there is no way I could have made it this long if I wasn't actually 'happy' when fasting. Right now protein drinks make me really, really happy :)

I drink this "vanilla milkshake" every night (200 calories - 3 carbs). I drink it on fasting days and eating days. It is so good I now actually prefer it to a McDonald's milkshake! A McDonald's milkshake is too sweet and has 'too many competing flavorings'. The protein shake is 'smoother' and has one consistent flavor comprised of protein, heavy cream, and ice.

Anyway, Have a great day everybody! Let's see where the day takes us :)

Your shake is waaaaayyyyy better than McDonald’s! Mcds shakes are full of HFCs! And I’m sure your body is thanking you for giving it some extra protein through such an extended fast

@CrashtestDawnie - Thanks! Also, the last time I had a MacDonald's milkshake was a few months ago (I would allow myself one on the first day of a 'liquid fast'), and it gave me such a sugar hit that my vision got blurry. With a family history of diabetes I really feel I would go blind if I did not cut my carbs. I have measured my blood sugar in the past and I can shoot up to 130 and-stay-there until the next day! … Now I just need a 'replacement' for Big Mac's...

You can start lifting at any time. Only way to get that sexy bod. Like you, I got obsessive over the last mile when I first lost my weight and cut to 178 with a VLCD. Lost a lot of muscle along with the fat even though I was lifting. Ended up scrawny af, still carrying belly fat, and still not happy in the mirror. Lifting is required for mirror happiness.

@jimmiepop - Thank You. I am going to list weights right now... Seriously.

To get rid of the stomach, you'll probably need to cut the protein when you're fasting. Autophagy follows water fasting, which is what you need. Gets rid of loose skin and belly.

I do the same with my protein powder. I have it everyday! That darn tummy, they will do it every time. They're so stubborn.

Agree on the lifting...need the exercise to build the muscle, but will also need the Calories.

@minitata - I am going to try to cut down on the protein today.... so hard :(

@srossca - I plan to switch to OMAD to get more calories :) Also, while I can lift while fasted, I feel I have 3x the energy after taking a 1 scoop of protein powder in heavy cream (only 1.5 carbs). I know the real body builders around here take in 200+ carbs for their workouts, but that many carbs would put me on a 'carb binge' :(

I think you need the small amount of calories and protein for your long fasts, it is not like you are doing just one day fasting. Your body is definitely eating itself (or the dead cells) just substaining your body functions for the balance of the day. can't spell today, don't mind me. personally I think going keto and keeping your calories to a reasonable level will take off that little bit you have left. did you not lose weight over the weekend when you ate?? I am forgetful, but I thought you had a big weight loss from last week. look at however you keep track of these things and see how it all tracks

Bananas help with stomach bloat. Half a banana before a workout and half after.

Good plan! Drinking this every night is at a minimum OMAD. Which is perfect. But you’re getting far fewer calories and doing well.

Did you start the protein shakes for workouts or just as a shake? Just wondering. The eggnog shakes I am on really suck for me because they taste eggy. Thinking about substituting a protein shake for the egg part if I can add in more fat.

Looks yummy. Back to the lab I go. I think I will have to make this a dinner out of this soon.

I stared at the photo of your protein shake for a while. thanks for the eye candy. looks like my kind of comfort food.

Good for you for enjoying your fast with your shake! You are doing so well!!!!

@Mjgh06 - I started drinking them because they are Vanilla Shakes! :) :) I was like "Oh God I hope these taste good!" and after tasting it I was 'hooked for life'. The key for me is a lot of heavy cream and just enough ice to make it 'frothy'. Stuff so thick you can barely suck it through a straw.

@baskington - My attitude lately has been "fast as much as I can while still being 'happy'" - So if the protein shakes were slowing me down, then I just need to accept it. However, I have lost 13lbs in 16 days... :)

@Draglist - Yeah in the end this is a OMAD. However, there is no way I could limit myself to 300 calories and 1.5 carbs if I was eating actual food :) Also, on eating days, I eat and ALSO drink my shake for 'dessert' :)
