Miraculum's Journal, 22 June 2018

I just 86'd the Publix brownies and cinnamon bread (in a Publix trash bin, that is -- not in my household trash, where I would hear their siren call). I also remembered that I didn't have my morning coffee and heavy whipping cream, and deleted that from my food diary, too.

Although my carbs are still way outta whack, this mitigates the calorie damage *some*. Blood sugar after this binge: 235mg/dL. So, in addition to triggering a flood of natural insulin, I have to inject another 20u of Humalog. Bad news all around.

Along with not planning my meals, maybe skipping my morning coffee was another factor leading to this temporary madness? This is a good lesson for me!
208.5 lb Lost so far: 76.5 lb.    Still to go: 40.5 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

It will come back down...I’ve struggled lately too but as soon as I cut back the carbs the weight dropped again.

So you bought brownies and cinnamon bread but then threw them away? That's good right? Maybe I don't understand what you feel so bad about. Is Publix a grocery store or restaurant? I went out to lunch yesterday and had a club sandwich full of stuff I can't eat - processed meat, mayonnaise, bread and French fries, so I understand feeling bad. But sounds like you were stronger and through some, or maybe even all the bad stuff away. I ate about 1/3 of the fries and gave the rest to my sister, and ate half the sandwich, but brought the other half home and ate it almost immediately!

Fritzy, yes, Public is a supermarket. I planned to gorge myself alone in my car, in a shady spot behind the store, but changed my mind while posting my "confession." Throwing away that portion of me prospective binge made me feel better.

That reminds me of Marsha dumping Lysol (?) on a tray of brownies that she had bought in a weak moment. Still makes me laugh.

I like the term "prospective binge". I've done that - bought food for a planned binge. Sometimes I've thrown out most of what I bought once I got home, like a half bag of chips once reason takes over my brain.

Remember the carb binge the next time. Even if you forget to pack something there is always something keto to grab -- cheese sticks, hard boiled eggs are now packaged here and there, meat sticks, etc. Take it from another carb addict whose done the same thing! Good luck.

Thanks, Draglist! Yes, earlier in the day, I went to Earth Fare hoping to find ready-made fatbombs or something and left with just a bottle of water. I got home and did have plenty of low-carb foods to choose from, including my planned lunch, but I got stuck in "carb-seeking" mode. Even though I succumbed later, the Earth Fare experience was good mental exercise.
