Miraculum's Journal, 17 June 2018

Holding steady on my weight... It's surprising how much carbohydrate is in just a little fruit -- 10g in 3 oz. of raspberries. I avoided Carolina's fresh strawberry season this year because binging on strawberries by the pint (or the gallon!) is just not on my plan anymore!

As I await delivery of coding drops for my new Precision Xtra glucose-and-ketone meter (by Abbott), I'm working on getting my daily carb count in ketosis range.

BTW, the coding drops are *much* more expensive directly from Abbott (at least $50, as high as $84!) than from a third-party vendor. And the ketone test strips are pricey, too.

Over half of that is fiber that the body can do nothing with so no need to count it. I understand counting full carbs on processed, man made Foss that contain sugar alcohols because they can have a negative effect on blood sugar for some individuals. It's safe to count net carbs on produce though.

you can add net carbs to your food registry, it really helps to show how many real carbs you are having in the day. I have fat, protein, carbs, net carbs and calories set in my food diary column headers.

Baskington, I have the same columns in my food registry. I have insulin-dependent T2DM. Although I've reduced the dosage of Levemir and Humalog, I count total carbs to scale my Humalog accurately. It'll be interesting to see how my serum ketones respond to net v. total carbs.

I bought the Keto MOJO meter because the test strips are 99 cents and the calibration strip is included in that price. It also tests glucose.

fiber is soluble or insoluble. I believe only insoluble can reduce carb count?

Yes, you're correct, 859kim. Only the grams of *insoluble* fiber can be subtracted from total carb grams.
