To all of those who suffer in pain: I hear you. My L4/L5 disc ruptured years ago, and I’m left with bone on bone on nerve. It’s got so much arthritis, it hardly moves. My right hip is affected, and also full of arthritis and also stuck. Every now and then it gives way with a loud “thunk!” And I sigh, from agonizing pleasures of pain and relief. I wake every morning with searing pain, and that’s my signal to start the day. I did just get a new bed, and it is wonderful. Can’t say it solved the problems, but it seems to be helping. I wonder, how many times did I quickly stuff my face because of pain. How long have I been self medicated with food and eating my feelings. Today is my wedding anniversary, and I have to say, damn that cake was GOOD.

Happy Anniversary - some people in my family seem to think that if you suffer pain most/all of the time you should get used to it - I just tell them that I'm allergic to it.

Bavaria, that is very interesting! I have not been to a doctor for years about it, because I’m gonna refuse pain killers. But I have not consulted someone to surgically fix the problem. Interesting!

Autoimmune diseases are difficult. I contracted my one in every million disease at the age of 58. With proper diagnosis, ongoing treatment, and exercise; I have been able to keep the pain in check. It took two years and multiple doctors until I finally was diagnosed at UC Davis. I have since been under the care of two neurologists, one at UCLA Medical Center and one in my hometown. You can do it. Pain is not your friend and can increase your chances for further damage. Congratulations on your anniversary celebration. Just throw out the rest of the cake. It has a tendency to call your name until it is finished. Been there!

Me too. I had back as surgery 25 years ago. I felt it was successful. Sometimes I have some minor aches but my stretching exercises take care of it. I think you should see a dr. to see exactly what is wrong. You can always see a what a pain management dr. can recommend beside drugs since you don't want to take thm. Maybe give acupuncture a try. Whatever you decide, good luck.

Thank you fishingwidow. I haven’t heard about anyone having good luck with back surgery until now, so I’ll get the courage and go get in. I’m tired of the pain 🙄
