kingkeld's Journal, 03 July 2012

Good morning, friends!

EDIT:
WOW! I just realized that this is my 700th journal entry! Should I celebrate with cake? Heck no! :) I can't believe it's been 700 frickin' entries though. I can't believe you guys aren's sick of me yet. :)
END OF EDIT.

Phew, it's been a busy morning.

Inspiration came over me, so I went ahead and recorded the vocals for my new recording right away, before writing my journal.

Normally, journaling is one of the first things I do every day, but today I just felt that the time was right to do the recording.

I think it was a good choice. I got to lay down vocals for not just the new recording, but also for an old recording that was missing vocals.

I love the way they turned. They're very impromptu, one is a first take recording(!) and they groove. They might not be the prettiest vocals, but I think they fit the songs.

Curious? Well, take a listen here. PLEASE do respect me as a musician and do NOT listen to this through laptop or iPad speakers. They sound horrible and will never give any music any justification. Please connect to a stereo before playing. You won't regret it. Also, please turn it UP. :)

EDIT:
It seems that there is a slight problem getting the music player embedded. I'm not sure why, it usually works. If you can't see the player, then you can go straight to my Soundcloud page and listen to the song here.
END OF EDIT.

I decided to share the "old" recording with you, the one that has been sitting there for a while, just waiting for me to do the vocals. I haven't had the gear at home to do it, and when I did I didn't feel inspired. Well, today it all aligned and I finally did it. Like I said, it's not always pretty, but it's pretty fun. I hope you like it.

I am down a kilo of fluids today. I am at 81.2 kgs. Yesterday I started counting calories to get an idea of what I weight and what I am doing. It turns out that when I know I am doing right, I am still doing right. I will keep doing this all week, I think, to keep myself in check. I ended up around 1500 calories, and that's not too bad. I don't do ANY exercise these days (as I am not allowed from the doc) so I can't go too nuts on the calories. I think what I am doing is just fine.

I make sure to really drink a lot of water. Every hour, on the hour, in the time that I am awake I will drink a large glass of water. It really helps flushing things out and I think this is the reason that I am down a kilo this morning. I will keep doing this every day, as much as possible.

So, what's in store for today? Not a thing. I am basically hanging here, probably surfing online, listening to music, and waiting for wife to get off from work. We're probably gonna go shopping for dinner. I think that's all.

It's okay. I can use a nice, quiet day.

Yesterday I went to visit my drummer. He plays a digital drum kit, and he asked if I could help him set up some sounds in the computer. You guys know how I love doing stuff like that, so of course I'd help him setting it up. I love messing with sound and gadgets, so this is definitely something I enjoy doing.

We set up a few different drum profiles, so he has different drum kits for different songs. Pretty cool.

These days are so quiet. I don't really feel like I experience a whole lot, naturally because I am somewhat tied down here. I try to occupy my mind, but my lack of sleep has made it difficult. The last few nights have been better, though, and I feel that my focus is back somewhat.

My stomach is STILL very hard and full of fluid after the surgery. Actually, it feels like a little more is gathering, but it all looks healthy otherwise. I hope that when I go next time they will be able to drain some of it. I am tired of it. It sits like a "belt" around my waste, and this is the reason that I can't fit ANY of my pants! I have one pair of sweat pants that I can fit in, so I have to wear them (and wash them) over and frickin' over. So much for style. At least I look sporty! LOL!

Today I am thankful for:
- inspiration to record vocals for TWO songs! WOW!
- Morning coffee!
- Feeling consistently better every day, even if there is still a while to go.

Happy Tuesday, FatSecret! Life is good!

Awesome song! And enjoy wearing that sweat pants! You will miss having an excuse to loaf in them when your other pants fit again. Though I understand washing that often can get really annoying. Enjoy your quiet day!!

I am sure it won't be long until you can get in your 'sexy' pants LOL

Sounds like fun mixing music and technology. I will give your song a proper listen, at work my speakers are in the monitor (they suck). I am sure your swelling will go down, that is a lot of trauma, and the body is working its magic. That would be tough to get comfy pants with all that going on there. Perhaps a nice pink muu muu gown would be more suitable at this time? lol

Hey there: Have you ever tried melatonin tablets for sleep? It is a naturally occurring brain substance that regulates sleep. It not a medicine and can be purchased over the counter in most pharmacies. It takes a few days to build up in your system but could help you get the necessary rest. Just an idea............... HCB
