Sharons Victory's Journal, 24 March 2019

so I've realized something...I see a lot of people's meals on here are 500 calories and I'm realizing my meals are arpund 350 but then I'm still hungry.and snack a lot and the snacks add up to a lot....there's something psychologically satisfying about seeing a 500 calorie substantial meal in front of me...I think I'd snack way less if I did that! so I'm going to try to make my meals bigger and see how it goes. Im also allowing my carbs to be a little higher (50) this week to get in my fiber...i started having really bad physical problems.and doctor wants me to get 30 grams fiber a day so upping my carbs will allow for that much easier...plus ive been thinking of doing it anyway since im ok with losing slower now and getting closer to maintenance

I eat 5-6 small meals per day. I always try to make sure I have 2-3oz of protein, 1/2c carb and a cup of veggie for my 3 main meals and the other 2-3 meals are my snacks which is usually a protein and fruit. I'm never hungry. It did take a week or two for my belly to feel full with smaller portions but I would drink water if I was getting hungry before my next meal time. This method doesn't fit everyone tho. Those with busy job with very little breaks may not be as flexible.

That's what works for me, I eat 2 big meals in a day. It's not for everyone but it helps me control my calorie intake. When I ate smaller meals I felt myself being hungrier and snacking more too. I guess it's trial and error till you find what works for you best! Good luck and I hope it works for you!

Sharon, better get a LOT of water and adequate electrolytes, if you are adding that much fiber into a low-carb diet. Don't increase the fiber too fast or it will bind you up.

Gz you're just confirming what i just read...nobody told me to add it slowly!!

i started eating homemade air popped popcorn (or made with a little oil) for a snack that's full of fiber, you get a lot of popcorn for few calories!

I've been getting around 25 to 30 grams of fiber daily, but I've still had to add in some insoluble fiber (per medical advice). Definitely make sure you are getting your water in.

this is TMI but things are not moving and horrible hemorrhoids...which could be because I sit all day, who knows, but I want to see if this will help me...I've always wanted to "go more" than I currently do...but I wish I'd known about adding the fiber in slowly because I was suuuuper uncomfortable all night because I probably have upped it way too high way too fast over night lol. I'm getting my water in too

Snack on and incorporate more fruits and veggies for fiber. Esp. raspberries, artichoke, guava. You could also keep the skins on when you make your potatoes. Also ditch any white flour foods and switch to whole grains.

Have you tried magnesium?

@Sharon same thing happened to me last year (it was a serious WTF moment), insoluble fiber is a must (I personally like benefiber over the other major brand), hope that you heal up quickly, it will get better!
