John10251's Journal, 09 January 2018

I ate at 119% of goal due to late night snacking again. We still have too much junk in the pantry. The treats aren't the blame, I am my problem. I did hit all activity goals.

Regarding my last workout, although I reduced resistance weights; the after effects(soreness) was as if I had a high intensity workout. I assume it was because of the holiday layoff. Although the added weight is still hanging around, my 32" waist pants are still fitting well. I won't complain because I actually think I look a little better. My chest, arms and legs are in better proportion to my waist. I'm still going to concentrate on reducing body fat. I'm not done...

Look up the symptoms of drug addiction. Apply the reasoning to your reaction to starches and sugars. Personally, I had to eliminate all grains, sugars, fruits, and processed foods to convince my body to start losing weight. I learned this from Bitten Jonsson, RN.

John, I do not know if you have tried this, but I have found this product, riced cauliflower, 3/4 of a cup has only 20 cals, and its low in sugar and carbs, just thought id mention it, makes a darn good snack, or a side with a meal,,, good luck.

Truthfully, I do have a problem with snacking at night. I can do and eat the right things during the day and sometimes binge on junk at night. When periods like the holidays come around and I plan to go off plan, I go nuts. I have been trying to do maintenance for a couple of years and have not mastered it yet. Getting back on plan is challenging but I have done it before and most likely will be doing it again. Alan, I like riced cauliflower. I wish more restaurants offered choices like that...

Working out won’t be enough to loose weight, if u want to loose weight eating in a calorie deficit is the way to go

If I could go to bed at 5 pm I wouldn't have trouble with night snacking! HAHA. It is my #1 derailer. All of the stress of the day is recognized at night and I want to binge eat it away. Did you ever try Mindfulness exercises? You can google it, but here is a link to get you started https://www.pocketmindfulness.com/6-mindfulness-exercises-you-can-try-today/ . It really does help to do one of these exercises (even 5 min) when you feel the urge to snack.

@ rosio19, I agree. That's exactly what I didn't do during the holidays. I'm trying to get consistent again with maintaining a calorie deficit daily. @ NY_Shelly, I checked out some of the Mindfulness exercises. Thanks!!!
