Nidoqueen's Journal, 25 April 2018

Okay, what gives??? I'm starving! Okay, I'm not, but I am dealing with a constant low-grade hunger that just sort of nags at me all day. I have been eating the same basic things for over 8 weeks now and I've lost 18lbs so far. Why is it that suddenly, the food that has sustained me just fine is no longer enough to keep me satisfied? I would think with the lower weight, I would need less over time but my tummy is crying for more...

How many calories are you eating per day? Sometimes I am thinking about food all day long because I am doing nothing, when I keep really busy I don't feel hungry.

What are your macros for carbs, proteins, and fats?

My RDI is 1500 calories, but I rarely break 1200. For macros, I try to keep fats and proteins at a combined 65%-70% of my diet with carbs taking up the other 30-35%. I try to stay around 60-70 carbs a day max and I have a hard time going any lower. I cannot eat any raw veggies, including roughage like lettuce, cabbage, and other raw greens. (Therefore, no salad).

I would say add steamed broccoli or cauliflower to your lunches and dinners. You might be low on complex carbohydrates. They won't add a lot of calories but will add volume. Good luck figuring it out!

Are you eating enough good fats?

Try adding a bit more fat to your daily diet to mix up your macros. Fat tends to knock out my hunger pains. Also, non calorie seltzer does too... I like the flavored ones from Walmart. $.50!

Drink enough water to and don't forget the 3 in-between snacks. Like fruit or nuts just measure the nuts.

I have also discovered foods with a little more fat sustain me better. I'm a vegetarian and I know how it is to feel a low grade hunger, like you describe.

My thoughts are you need to up your protein, fats and calories initially, then slowly drop them as you feel more comfortable, as your body has time to adjust to your new way of eating , this should curb your hunger pains, also try some walking ??
