Ack! This is frustrating! I am sticking very closely to the Atkins diet and have stalled out at around 12 pounds lost (since September!). I have two friends dieting along with me, and they've both lost 15 and 30 pounds, and they aren't as diligent as I am. One of them (the 12 lb), has sandwiches and popcorn several times a week, and she's still losing! Any suggestions?
205.5 lb Lost so far: 0 lb.    Still to go: 55.5 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

Hi, RW. I've been on this journey a long time. I started with Atkins years ago and am now doing Keto. (It's working better for me.) There could be several things that are slowing or stalling your progress. You might be eating too many calories, even if you are being strict about carbs. It could be carbs are sneaking in without your realzing it. It could be you are sensitive or even allergic to something your eating, even if it's allowed on you plan. It could be you're not drinking enough water. It could be your activity level is too low. It could be you're not getting enough, good quality sleep. It could be stress. And it could be any combination of the above factors. In my experience (and sometimes agonizingly slow progress) the key is to keep tweaking your plan. We are all of us unique. What works for one won't necessarily work for the other. And what worked for you the first month might not be best for the next month. Everyone's journey is distinctly personal. Just don't give up, and keep tweaking! You've got this!!

Keto seems to work better than Atkins for many, especially if getting enough of the right kind of calories. (Need to eat a lot of quality fats and moderate-to-low protein.) It seems counterintutive, but seeing person after person start losing once they have UPPED their fats considerably! For eg, for a female, 1800 cal minimum.

Your friends' caloric deficit is higher than your, in other words they either eat less calories or spend more during activities.

Glad to hear fats can accompany a successful diet because that's mostly what I want to eat.

I cut calories and lost weight and have kept if off now for 2 years. I did not do KETO, but I do eat carbs that have a low glycemic index. I lost 40 pounds at a regular pace in 4 months 2 years ago, and I have lost anther 15 pounds in the last year as I have tried to firm up. Use a good calorie calculator, the one on here does not work well. I used the one on calculator.net. Stick to your calorie RDI for your gender, age, height and activity level and you should see regular weight loss.
