Doing pretty well on Weight Watchers. But losing weight SO SLOWLY! I'm 50, and I know metabolism is slowed down. But I want to lose weight more quickly than this, especially because I have a wedding at the end of May I want to look good for. Last night I weighed in at the WW meeting and only lost .6 pounds in the last week after working SO, SO HARD with over 100 minute workouts on the treadmill each day and keeping to the WW plan perfectly. I'm ashamed to confess that I binged a little last night in reaction to the disappointment. So, so stupid!!! Today I'm back but discouraged also. I'd love some feedback if anyone has similar experience. Thank you! :)

I tried weight watchers, both in the classes and online. When I really stuck to the point system I lost maybe half a pound a week. Then I discovered fatsecret and started logging here when they had the point system here as part of their application. Then they got thrown off using any branded systems, so I had to go to calories. I found out that you have to do what works for you. Right now, I am at 1250 calories a day and 300 calories of workout average over the week. I am not losing a lot right now because I am cheating like crazy but am keeping track of calories. The exercise is not going to burn off pounds. Only careful tracking and eating fresh foods really gets me to where I need to go. Fresh has a lot of volume. So, I did try both methods and now I know what I need to do. The classes never really motivated me. I belong to a gym and work out two or three times a week with friends of mine, I pay a trainer for once a week, and I log everything I eat. The weight watcher plan is almost harder than sticking to a calorie count, in my opinion.

PS I am 60. Best losses I had were 10,000 steps a day and sticking to 1200 calories a day, I lost 1.5 pounds a week then. I weigh the same as you do - wearing a heart monitor while I exercise, it was calculated that I burn about 300 calories per hour on an elliptical going 3 miles per hour. A hard one hour work out lifting weights to maximum heart rate of 125, I burn about 350 calories. So, you could be burning 500 calories if you keep up 3 miles an hour for the 100 minutes. Theoretically that would give you a one pound loss per week, but you would have to be sticking really closely to your points.

Resistance training work outs build muscle and burn fat more quickly than cardio; as well as boost your metabolism.

It is not easy but you're doing great it's OK to cheat here in there remember too if you're working out you are gaining muscle. Find low calorie snacks sugar-free Jell-O 10 cal with some whip cream is always a good sweet snack. You can do it. Veggies are a great filler and I keep at least two dozen hard-boiled eggs each week in my fridge I eat the egg whites and throw the yolk out, good protein and drink LOTS of water. Add fresh lemons it's A good cleanse for your body. Good luck

You'll find what you like to do - I believe the Atkins for me has worked the best - Protein eats carbs (sugar and fat) - That's worked for me , but you need to find your way - Any way you eat and live is a lifestyle and not a diet - Eat items that are right for you that taste good to you, you don't have to eat brussel sprouts every meal but have I got a recipe for you !!! LOL - I also suggest try one of the challenges on fs , you will be further along always shooting for a goal - Go Green!!!!

Just keep telling yourself why you want to lose weight. I use to be on Weight Watchers many years ago. It was when their diet was stricter. I use to get discouraged too because there were many plateaus I would get to and not go down. But eventually I got to my goal weight. Just be persistent. I got away from dieting because of stress and I gained all my weight and more back. It wasn't the diets fault. It was me. Now I'm just trying to count calories. And realize I have to stick with it for the rest of my life. Btw, I'm 64 years old so I k ow what you mean about your metabolism. But when I was on W.W. I was in my 20's. Even then I had to exercise a lot because of my metabolism. I use to walk 2 miles everyday, plus excercise at home. I made my own routine up. Now I've got a bad leg so I can't walk as much but I do exercises everyday with a You Tube Senior chair program on the T.V. One day I might increase it to an hour. right now I do 30 min.

Also when I don't excercise I don't feel so good.
