Quote of the day...

Time to clean the house and get ready for an engagement BBQ this afternoon... Thinking of eating before we go, or bringing something I can eat... 🤷‍♀️

What do you find is easiest when going to a social event revolving around foods?

I have been used to not being able to eat at gatherings because I have been gluten free for a long time... so I usually bring some sort of side or snack platter that I can eat, especially if my toddler is attending, have to make sure she had at least one food to eat... But some days like today I would rather leisurely clean my house, get ready and just eat before I go, bring a little bag of nuts and hope there is a veggie platter 😉 I don’t feel like rushing out to buy things to make today....

I eat what's there and try to make up for it the rest of the week 😏

Shame. If you were a guest at my house, I'd make sure I had gluten free things for you 🙂

I have so many sensitivity issues and plain allergies to foods that eating in others homes or restaurants is a nightmare of negotiation. 🤷🏻‍♀️I bring 2 or 3 dishes normally plus a stash in my purse and have ALWAYS brought my own stuff to drink since I used to drink huge amounts of Diet Pepsi when I was younger so my friends are all used to it.🙋🏻 I find asking friends to try to cook around my likes and food sensitivities an embarrassment really. So I prefer not to go there. The ones who insist make me uncomfortable and have normally sent me reaching for medication because of spices or sauces I wasn’t expecting. Or blanded down their recipes so much they were unhappy with their own cooking. LOL That happened to my daughter the last time she went to her dad’s house. 💁🏻‍♀️He couldn’t be bothered to remember what she could eat so she had horrid food because he served what HE liked and his girlfriend made an attempt to cut the spices to safe spices for my daughter. Neither bothered to call her. 🤦🏻‍♀️It’s just tough when everything revolves around food.

@mamamc I used to have one dish Always that was veggie, and one that was gluten free! LOL and bring hard boiled eggs, fresh made bread and cheese. Now I don’t do the bread! 😆

Rule 1 for me is don't go hungry. And, take something to share that you can eat too. Also, stash some food for just you in case folks eat it all. 🤣🤣💕
