mamamc7's Journal, 14 February 2018

I prelogged my dinner and I am within my NC limit... but contemplating being super naughty and having a brownie with ice cream with my family tonight...

Also, I have questions for those of you who use medicinal Mary Jane... or CBD.
has it helped with any of your inflammatory problems? And has it hindered your weight loss or helped? Has it relieved any negative symptoms and how?

Curious if this is a route I should be rethinking. My gut health, fatigue, pain, ptsd and inflammation seem to be so rocky all the time. I live in Cali where this would be easy for me to access...

I have not tried it but have read and heard good things. My neighbor has been using it in patch form for a bad back and it's really helping him. I just ordered some for my 16 1/2 year old dog with skin issues and arthritis. I am definitely giving it a thought. I hope others with experience will comment.

Isn't it worth a try? There's no THC in it.

Well Marijuana has thc. I already use cbd occasionally. But it is very expensive. I use a salve for pain and one for skin issues. I also use one for sleep issues but not regularly, th cbd oils are so expensive but high quality medical marijuana is way more affordable. Curious if anyone uses that...

@jackiespahr can dogs take turmeric?

Grass fed beef bone broth is supposed to be great for older dogs with joint issues (and people in general) Yes on the Turmeric for dogs =)

Check out Noni Juice for pain - it's an all natural morphine (and bonus low in carbs)

I licked the toothpick after checking if the brownies were ready... 🤤 sorta ready to cheat on this diet...

@kaysea I will look into that. Thanks. I am a little nervous of anything with morphine. I don’t even use Tylenol or ibuprofen. I have been western medicine free for over 5 years...

We grow marijuana (we live in Oregon). It does help with pain for sure as for inflammation ibuprofen would probably be more suitable unless you’re able to find a tincture or lotion specifically made to help ease inflammation. And it just makes working out and cleaning your house more enjoyable 🤷🏻‍♀️ lol

I hate to be the one to say it, but what cured my aches and inflammation was giving up gluten and sugar, plus adding plenty of coconut oil. These dietary changes changed my life and health. A treat of brownie and ice cream would put me on the couch in pain and mental anguish for a week. Really! Also, medicinal strength turmeric and resveratol are both recommended for inflammation. I'm using them for my brain injury. I haven't tried the cbd, though I have a scrip for insomnia.

I use CryoDerm (without Capacin)which is a topical that you roll on so you can use it freely and easily. It is a bit like Bengay without the odor and mess. I also use Zim's Foot Creme for my feet. It has Arnica and some herbs in it and really helps. CBD will not give you the munchies from what I have read. I live in Texas so have not tried it. I hope you find some pain relief measures that work for you and I definitely agree that Ibuprofen is great for reducing inflammation. I have been on it for years now to control my arthritis. You may need to take more than the usual dose to get the best benefit...the total daily dose that is safe is much higher than the dose on the label on the bottle suggests. Different things work for different people and you will find a ton of arthritis or inflammation "cures". Keep us posted on how it goes.

I agree with Erikahollister. Removing gluten and sugar - and honestly wheat (watch "What the Wheat" found on Netflix). Also adding foods like celery, berries, ginger. garlic, avo or coconut oil, and if you need a sweet 70% cocoa chocolate (you can find info online of anti-inflammatory foods). Reducing the inflammation that is causing the pain is better than just covering it up. I would only think that smoking it would cause unhealthy food choices. But that is going from experience 30 years ago.

I looked in the CBD oil to but decided against it just because it's so expensive. instead I went on the fodmaps diet which fixed my IBS and seemed clear up most the inflammation.

@carmen I can only take Tylenol due to kidney damage. But haven’t taken it in 5 years or more actually. I don’t really use western medicine unless all other options aren’t useful or working. I haven’t eaten gluten in almost 14 years. I have used various types of cbd. I found a topical I really like for skin issues and small pains and a mouth spray for sleep. But the effects seem short. Like for sleep, I have insomnia and have never slept through a night in my whole life, so the mouth spray lasts about 2-3 hrs, which is my usual sleep pattern of waking up but the quality of sleep seems better. It makes life exhausting and naps mandatory (but being a stay at home Mom with two kids... and we homeschool, it never ever happens). I haven’t ever really noticed sugar as a trigger for me as far as the pain but for my weight it definitely causes me to gain. I do know immediately if I have accidentally eaten gluten, it is risky for me to eat out at restaurants due to my allergy. But I live a much more sedentary life compared to my past. I used to work at a gym, so training people or letting people train me all day was my life... I now feel like a lazy couch potato. So this is why I have cut my carbs and sugar way down, to less than 20NC a day. I try to do all the natural remedies I can. I wonder if there is a cbd pill or marijuana pill for sleep, one that slow releases compared to the mouth spray or salves that wear off...

@dapple I am thinking of cutting nightshades next... and eggs. Which is going to be awful. I love eggs and all things spicy!!!

@imbrookesmom I already use all the herbs and natural remedies I can for pain. Have to keep an eye on my celery intake due to phosphorus and my kidney damage. But I have a severe separation of my abs from carrying giant babies and being a very petite person. I had preeclampsia with my first and she weighed 10lbs 4oz... my stomach stuck out so awkwardly because she had no where to go but out. 😳 and then... after three days of labor I had an epidural and moved during it... 😱 they really need to lock hospital doors while preforming them. Because I was naked with my bum facing the door and I heard like five family members enter the room, I hadn’t slept or eaten in three days, wasn’t thinking and tried to roll over and say hi 🤦‍♀️ luckily my spine pain is minimal and much better than it once was, until I fell and broke my tail bone and then rebroke it giving birth to my second daughter 😩
