I have no idea why my weight continues to increase. I am doing everything right. It is driving me crazy. But... when I put on a pair of jeans today that I wear all the time and are snug, they fell off of me. So... I guess that is a good thing! :) I'm hanging in there and more determined than every before. I am gonna act like a winner so I can feel like a winner! :)

You don't have to read the following, I just need to vent and FS is my safe place.

Today, I had to go to the SF Bay area (4 hr round/trip) for an EMG on my arm by neurologist. OUCH! :( (I have had unexplained pain in my arm, in December went to urgent care who sent me to ER believing I had a blood clot, checked my veins, not clot, said it was 'Tennis Elbow', but the pain is not in my elbow. Follow-up w/primary dr 2 days later who was worried because ER didn't check my arteries??? Referred to vascular surgeon who did an ultrasound, and ruled it out. Still have the pain though. Arrggg...

I have been dealing with a lot of health issues for awhile. I have had extreme chronic fatigue for the last 2 years where I go to sleep exhausted with a headache and wake up the same way. I have sleep apnea and use a sleep CPAP, so that is not a problem. Doctors are trying to figure out why. Along with low vitamin d and b12. While being seen at Stanford Neurology for the constant
electrical current feeling in my head and mild fast side to side head tremors, along w/cognitive deficit (diagnosed as a form of amnesia), ruled out a handful of brain diseases. I had an MRI which showed things I don't understand but says it is most commonly seen in setting of chronic small vessel ischemia??? WTHeck! Getting old sucks at times... Where are my 'Golden Years' Through unrelated blood work by neurologist it was discovered I have a precursor to bone marrow cancer called MGUS (bone marrow biopsy and other test confirmed it) in which I have to be checked by oncologist ever 3-4 months. I am told most of the time it stays dormant for 10 years. I hope that it never goes full blown because a test called "FISH" which checks your chromosomes, shows mine are really jacked up, 'I have multiple abnormalities, and not a good candidate for stem cell transplant and poor prognosis to other treatments such as chemo'. Stanford neurologist believed that thyroid disease may be cause of neurological issues and wanted endocrinologist to rule out Hashimoto's Encephalopathy and Hashimoto's thyroiditis. Boths ruled out, examined by 2 specialists, they say it is very rare to have hashimoto's encephalopathy and they don't think I have it. I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's Disease, but levels are normal. I have mild arthritis and hand/feet neuropathy that was thought to have been caused by my degenerative cervical and spine disease (along w/5 slipped disks). In October 2017 my skin from one shoulder across my chest to the other shoulder felt rough and kinda bumpy. I have tried everything, scrubbing the heck out of it to gently, lotion no lotion, to no avail. At the same time, I also popped up with a skin lesion under my thumb nail and on my chest. Referred to dermatology, thumb okay, chest lesion biopsy done and ended up being lichenoid keratosis (looks identical to basal cell carcinoma but is not a skin cancer). Strange and unusual...

So my medical mysteries are work in motion for now.

Now moving forward with good thoughts and letting go of things I cannot control and STRESS...

Sounds a lot like my issues with herniated discs in my neck. I hope that you get the relief you need soon! As for your health issues, many of them can be helped with keto. I reversed my diabetes, lowered my blood pressure, thyroid and cholesterol levels. No more meds for me!

8Patty, Thank you! I don't have discomfort in my spine thanks to a wonderful doctor who did a terrific job giving me a spinal epidural. I was able to quit taking all pain meds and lidocaine patches. I used to take hydrocodone and kept having to increase it, til it didn't work at all and it made me feel so sick, I quit taking it. The epidural was my 2nd one, the first didn't work. 2nd one was done at Stanford and it has worked for over 1 year now. And you know, I was so nervous about getting my chest cut on for the biopsy that I totally forgot to bring that up to the dermatologist. My 39 yr old daughter has 6 autoimmune disorders, one being sjogrens disease https://www.sjogrens.org/ . Skin is involved too. I think that may be what I have as well. It runs in the family. My skin does not itch, it is just rough and bumpy. I am gonna have to tell my primary doctor that I forgot to bring it up to the dermatologist. Hee! Hee!

Moondove, sorry you are going through all this. My MRI for "migraines" showed some chronic ischemic issues also. Neurologist appt next week. Turns out 3 blown discs around a past cervical fusion --2 below it and one above. Not migraines. If you have disc issues that could be contributing to chronic fatigue. Hope they figure things out for you. A friend of mine has electric shocky feelings in her head and after about 8 years they haven't figured it out. 4 different states, different docs and resources, lots of tests, she still has them and no answers. Please post if you find answers to the electric problem. I will let my friend know and it may help her as well.

Christmastee, Thank you! Do you have neuropathy caused by you neck issue? Yes, I did Atkins several years ago successfully and lost 85 lbs over 2 1/2 years, then stalled for 4 1/2 months and switched to different WOE. Bad mistake on my part. My primary dr directed me to do LCFT and Fasting 16/8. I need to read the book she recommended. My thyroid had nodules, but biopsied and negative for cancer, it is just a pile of mush... I haven't had to take prescription med for diabetes since 2010. Congrats on getting off on all your meds!

wholefoodnut, Thank you! I too have to return to the neurologist. Stanford appt in March, I don't know if I want to cancel it or not. The dr wanted to see the images (I had them done at another facility closer to home) before he gives his opinion. The second neurologist I saw, I was referred by my new primary dr. 2nd opinion dr. doesn't think it is anything to worry about. But my internal fight or flight says to worry about it. Stanford wanted to monitor and investigate 'White Matter disease' depending on what the images show. So, I am going to mail the images to them and see what they say first. As to the electrical surging sensation in my brain. One of my sisters is 11 years younger than me. She is 47 and had to have her thyroid removed. After I told her about my symptoms, she told me that is what she was experiencing as well and in her legs and feet, that were shaking. She had suspicious growths on her thyroid. Afterwards, no more electrical sensation. There are lots of things that can cause it. I will let you know if I find something out from neurologist. Oh... I live in an agricultural area. The planes and helicopters fly over spraying pesticides and herbicides all the time. I have had 3 doctors tell me to move, that I may be sensitive to them more than others, and that may be the cause of the electrical sensation and tremors. But there is no firm medical evidence. My granddaughter who is now 19, lost feeling in her lower extremity on 2 occasions when she was 17 while living with us. UCSF Children's Hospital did find pesticides in her urine and blood and was thought to be the cause. She had to learn how to walk all over again. Anywayzzz... My husband's job is here, and he won't budge. I've tried.

A ketogenic diet is neuro-protective and great for healing many autoimmune issues. Look it up. Try the Whals Protocol. I read your profile. It sounds like you have lead an active life. Have you ever had a concussion? Some of your symptoms could be from a lingering TBI. Also low carb diets sometimes cause a detox rash. There are a lot of Functional Medicine docs out in your area; I'd find one of them. They are good at finding the root cause of mysterious symptoms. Best of luck to you in your health quest!

I know how frustrating it can be knowing something is wrong but the docs can’t figure it out. Wishing you feel good thoughts.
