So... This app thinks my daily calorie intake should be 2500 based on my weight and height. That's way too high! If I ate that many I would gain so much weight. Ugh. I'm setting a limit for myself of about 1500. I just can't be ok with 2500.
341.7 lb Lost so far: 0 lb.    Still to go: 109.0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

It all depends on where you’re getting your calories from, I completely agree 2,500 is too much for me as well I try to stay around 1,600 and I don’t sweat it if I go over as long as I’m under 2,000

I think that's the only thing of FS that never works 🤣 at the end we all modified our daily intake with logic 😄

May I suggest you start with 2000 and work your way down as you lose weight. If you don't lose at 2000, you could go down a bit. 1500 is likely too low for your current weight. Also as you lose you will have to drop your calories so you do not want to start too low. What ever you decide to do Im sure you'll do great.

1500 is far too low for you!

My son has a huge calorie intake because of his size. Enough that I would get sick if I ate that much!

I'm pretty sedentary as far as lifestyle goes, mostly desk work. I figured I should keep my caloric intake at about half, or less, of my output. That way I'm expending more than I'm taking in.

I set my own as well, although it was years ago and I'm just now actively using this app for calorie accountability. I set mine at 1000 calories per day and I don't give myself any grief if I go over. For the first week I was over by at least 500 per day, but now I'm very close to 1000 calories per day. I typically finish my day 900+. I'm sure many people would say that's too low. I'm sure it is forever and ever and ever, but short term it's fine and it's my choice. When I feel I'm ready to increase my caloric intake I will do just that. You keep on doing what's right for you!

Calculator.net/calorie-calculator says 1767 should be my intake to lose 2lbs a week. That sounds far more reasonable than 2500.

Mine said 2500 as well! I've been trying to keep mine around 1700, but most days hitting 1900. Still losing though so that's good! Didn't realize what a calorie bomb some of my fave foods really were until I started using this app.

I had same problem. So I set at 1500. I am on Dr. Phils 2020 which runs about 1000 to 1200.

I realized that I do better at making choices when I look at the total calorie calculation for foods prior to deciding what to eat. I'm also trying to do a more plant based diet and less carb based (e.g. pasta, rice, potatoes, etc.). These little things make me more aware of what I'm putting in my face. I'm graduating from college in May and don't want to look like a bubble on legs when I walk down that isle. I want to feel better about me physically as a accomplish something this major.

Mine is set for 1700 with the maximum goal of losing a pound a week. Is there any way to tell the "system" that I want to lose 2-3 pounds a week so it tells me how many calories to ingest daily instead? I agree about checking out calories before eating. This site has been a game changer for me intuit respect - just seeing the empty calories I'd ingest on a daily basis has kicked my desire to change my bad habits into overdrive.

Log all your food and start with 2500 calories if you gain or lose weight at that amount you can adjust your amount. Example= You ate 2500 calories a day for 2 weeks and gained 2 pounds . Since it’s about 3500 calories a pound That would mean your maintenance calories are 2000. If you eat the same and lost 2 pounds that would mean your maintenance is 3000. Learning your maintenance is a great start. This is just an example and the fluctuations of weight are huge when you first start. Best of luck👍

Change your activity level to sedentary and it will put you down to less calories per day hopefully.

If you Google "ideal calories for weight loss - for your sex/weight/age" it should come up with a general bunch of recommendations.
