crankybuzzard's Journal, 17 January 2018

"What's your secret?" "C'mon, nobody loses weight like you have without pills or something". As I've said before, I get asked that a lot.

Here is my typical response to the inquisitive folks...

There is no secret. I'm following the Way Of Eating (WOE) that I found works best for me after quite a bit of research. I get in a little cardio 3 days a week (treadmill and pushups), and I lift some weights 3 days a week, and I still enjoy my whiskey.

No, I don't go hungry. No, I don't have "cravings". No, I don't always feel like cheating...

The picture below is what I have for lunch 4-5 days a week when I'm at work. I also have this same meal each Wednesday night. Looks darn good doesn't it?

At home, I eat a LOT, but it's the right stuff for my WOE, and I keep it within my "eating window" of 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM. I'm always full when I push back from the table, I'm not hungry at odd hours, and I love the foods I get to eat.

I eat MEAT of ALL kinds, cheese, butter, smoked stuff, fish, and all kinds of other good foods as well. Yes, I have an occasional cookie, or have a dish of ice cream with my father, but I don't "miss" it.

Did I at first? Of course I did, but with all things, after a small amount of time, you get used to your "new" ways.

I didn't like exercising at first, but now I feel almost like I'm depriving myself if I miss a workout. I should also add that after a workout, I feel AMAZING!!!

I'll close with this; a LOT of my success has been due to some wonderful people here at FS! Virtual kicks in the pants, electronic scoldings, supportive chats, and a cheering section that one could only dream of having!

Like a friend on here stated recently to her body, "I'm sorry I abused you for so long, I'm glad to have you back". "This time, I'll do better for you"! (something like that)

Thanks all for the support and the education, and here's to the next 35 pounds!

Your comments on eating well and enjoying exercise sounds very familiar and should be helpful to others. I eat well, meat, vegetables. eggs with other things like cheese and the odd whipped cream treat. I eat a modified KETO bread several times but stay under my RDI and keep the net carbs at or below 20. Down around 60 pounds with 10 or so to go. I feel full, have lots of energy for my 4 day per week weight workouts. At 67 I still feel fit and strong which is a great reward all by itself.

That's an awesome post!!! Thanks for sharing! You gave me ideas of how to get rid of the annoying people who don't beleive that we are making the effort on our own. 👍😊

Thank you Cranky Buzzard, how you have described your WOE, is exactly, what I have been listening too. And now I too, am reverting to how I use to eat. So lets see if I can revert back to the same size.

Like I tell people, If I can do this, ANYONE can! It isn't HOW you can do it, It's WHEN you DECIDE to do it...
