I know I should get some of those keto sticks to see if I am in ketosis, but I am losing weight. I can see it in my face and in the fit of my clothes. I am worried that if I get them and am not in ketosis, I will get discouraged and want to quit. I just dont know what to do. I want to succeed, but I am also afraid. This can get so frustrating.

Has anyone tried that drink mix that is supposed to put your body immediately into ketosis? I forget what its called, something ketones...I dont remember right now. But if you know, and have tried it, how do you feel about it?

Never tried the drink mix I try to eat as clean as possible. The sticks are a guide and not as good as the blood test. But the fact that you know your losing is a good sign. The sign that tipped me off, the difference in the smell of my skin. Can't acurately describe it but it's a change that stays when I'm fat adapted. I don't think the sticks would do anything but encourage you. The slightest color change is a good sign. Good luck Sweetie!

@Klynn82, I just started Keto and I am still learning what I am doing and getting it to become my new lifestyle way of eating and incorporating intermittent fasting. This is the first I have heard of a drink. I too have often wondered about the sticks. More importantly -- I just want to lose weight again to feel better about myself again. @8Patty, is it a good smell or a bad smell???

Fruitly smell lol would best describe it Kay

@kaysealove it is called Exogenous Ketones, there are different brands, but that is what all of them say on it. They are pricey, but I thought if it was something that worked it might be worth a try.

8Patty-didn’t know that about store bought rotisserie chicken. I am just getting started with this app! Looking forward to doing this!

@8Patty, Fruity I can live with... as long as I don't attract fruit flies or something lol

@Klynn82, The Exogenous Ketones seem like they are something new, you are right they are very expensive. I too am curious if they work. I don't trust manufactured powder that much - anything can be in it. That's just me.

Just my two cents-- I wouldn't want to put the ketones drink into my body to "put" my body into ketosis. I'd prefer to eat so that my body goes into that state naturally- it's chemicals doing the work instead of naturally. I'd be scared it would do harm to my body long-term, and also is not sustainable. Anything that you can take and then go eat whatever you want is a bit scary to me. :)

Goodmorning everyone hope everybody keeping healthy

@fitnesswithbridget it isnt something that you drink and can eat whatever you want. You mix it with water and 15-30min later your body is in ketosis, but you still have to eat low/no carb. It wont work unless you follow the diet. Thats why I was wondering about it, because it seems that with the diet your body should already be there, but if it helps get there faster and maintain it better, it might be worth it. I have read that if you slip up, it can help send you back in quickly.

Took my mom to the Dr yesterday and she is prediabetic now so we are hitting the low carb and high protein diet today and going strong to the finish line all year

I looked at the drinks, and believe them to be a "cheat" like artificial sweeteners. It turns out that artificial sweeteners activate sugar cravings by using the same receptors in the brain that sugars use, and that defeats weight loss. There is not enough known about the ketone drinks. Since they didn't come naturally, how do they REALLY work? Is there some long term consequence we do not know yet? I am old enough to remember when Fen Phen was a miracle drug. I cried, because I could not afford it. Five years later it was known as a killer.

@moogiemynes thanks for the info! I was looking into them on Amazon, but all the reviews seem to be "paid for" so I dont really trust them. I appreciate the input. I remember Fen-phen, I actually got a free sample of it in the mail and my mom flipped her lid and threw it away!

I’ve been on a Keto diet since 1/1 and I’ve lost 9 lbs. No Keto sticks needed. Read up on symptoms of keytosis and they are all present. As far as the drinks, stay away from sodas, specifically diet drinks. I drink water with an occasional splash of Mio energy mix. You can still lose weight without being in keytosis. Good luck!!!!!

Hi, everyone. I tried a container of the exogenous ketones, but I'm not buying them again. I didn't really see or feel the difference. But this is before I bought the blood ketone meter (Precision Xtra). It measures blood ketones from a finger prick instead of a urine strip. I have seen the folks on Keto Connect on YouTube do a before and after finger prick when taking the exogenous ketones and it did put them into deeper ketosis. I used the urine strips but was never able to register a color change. The Xtra meter is more precise. But I would say if you are losing weight, just keep going with what you are doing. Good luck!

Don't worry about ketosis if you are loosing weight. Just keep doing what you are doing...IT WORKS

The exogenous ketones work. The are expensive! You are instructed to drink a dose in the morning and measure 40 minutes later. You do get an increase in ketone measurement. Here are the brands I have tried: Perfect Keto, taste great, reasonably priced. Keto OS, very expensive, taste great. Julian Bakery InstaKetones, taste great, very reasonable in cost. Once you are in ketosis (again about three days) if you test well in the morning, no need to take the exogenous ketones.

Congrats on your progress so far. Keto strips are a good place to start if you are as curious as me. I got a small package and still have some left. They are not absolutely necessary as you already know. Anything that helps is good...

I am loosing weight slower than at other times in my life, 62 years old. But, never had a way of eating that satisfied my hunger like keto. Also I'm off medications for high blood pressure. (Don't tell my Dr.) Food for the first time is not controlling me. I'm not buying strips or fancy drink mixes, just following the plan. Just take it, day by day, and relax.
