kingkeld's Journal, 10 May 2012

I am a tiny bit up in weight today, but that's fully expected. After all, I did lose 2½ kgs (5 lbs) since Monday!

Yesterday went pretty well, I was on the bike (as you know) and had a great day at work, I got to catch up on quite a bit of things. Sadly, I also discovered even more work that needs to be done. Oh, well. I'll get to it.

I did dig into the chocolate yesterday, but I stayed within my RDI. I could tell that I had a hard time stopping, but I did, and I'm proud that I did.

Today is a new challenge. Wife is doing strawberry and chocolate cakes for work, and I will be there at the break with all of it. I may or may not have any, I haven't decided yet. I do have the calories for it, and I have recorded it just to make sure I have room. Then, if I decide to NOT have it, I'll have done even better.

No exercise today. My legs are TIRED this morning, probably from the previous three days biking and walking, and standing up at work all day - though I do that every day. So today, I'm giving myself a little bike rest. I have a long 9 hour work day today, and I'll be standing up for about 7 of those hours - so I think it's all gonna be okay. I'll be very close to burning my 3000 calories, if I don't manage to pass.

I was hoping to walk to the post office this afternoon, to pick up a mystery package. I have no idea what it is, but something's shipped to me. Trouble is that it's kinda a long walk, and it's been raining like crazy the last couple of days. They say we're getting more rain today, and I don't want to get caught in it, especially with a package that I don't know what is. What if it can't handle water? I'm so curious. I probably ordered something that I forgot about. LOL. I've done that before. Maybe I should just get it transferred to a post office closer to me.

I'm journaling a little later today - I've been playing awesome bass guitar this morning. I'm learning two new songs for the band - one that we've agreed on (I Love Rock'n'Roll by Joan Jett) and one that I hope that I can convince them that we're gonna play (Seven Nation Army by The White Stripes). They're both fun songs, and pretty simple to play. They'd fit into our setlist nicely, and it's something people like to listen/dance to.

Today, I'll keep my journal fairly brief. I want to get to work early and work up a little comp time for later.

Today, I'm thankful for:
- Wife suggesting Seven Nation Army.
- Morning Coffee.
- Having time to practice in the mornings.
- The positive outlook to a good day.

Life is good! :)

Oooh a mystery package. I do hope if you make the effort to go get it, it isn't something boring. Well done on restricting the chocolate.

King, I know I'm backtracking a bit here; I've been out a couple of days...when I said what I did about leaving the snacks off I didn't mean to include fruits and other healthy snacks...I meant the chips, cake, cookies and other junky stuff. And I want to warn you about the sugar-free snacks...if it works for you, fine, but there is a school of thought out there that while they are better in terms of low calorie-ness, you never get that taste for sweetness out of your system, and plus, you may find yourself eating MORE of the sugar-free stuff because your body knows the difference and it's still searching for the real thing that only the real thing can satisfy...does this make sense? And besides, snacking on fruits and veggies is BETTER for us.

Baxie, I follow you completely. I know you didn't mean to cut out the healthy snacks. :) However, for me it doesn't really matter what I eat in-between my meals. Once I go, I tend to want to keep going. Fruit, Cake, gum, anything. So the fruit can be just as much a trouble maker as chocolate. No use in excusing myself with the fact that it's only apples, if I eat 500 calories worth. :)

Two GREAT songs!! =) We're practicing Let's Get It On by Marvin Gaye, which makes me feel weird because A. it's a sexy song traditionally sung by a guy, and I am neither comfy with sexy songs nor a guy, and B. he wrote it when he was in his 30s and obsessed with a 16 year old girl (who he married a year later). EW!!! Well done on the exercise and the last week of hard work. That's awesome, man!!

LOL, Ferlegheti, you DO come across like a creepy old dude sometimes... not! I like the two songs, they're fun and something people know. Also, they're super easy to get going on, and we need a few more songs for uour third set. It's a smart move picking these two, I think.

You've seen right through me to my Inner Creepy Old Dude. =P I totally agree those are great songs in terms of being well-known and fun. We're also learning the TimeWarp from the Rock Horror Picture Show, and The House That Jack Built by Aretha. FUN!
