And so it starts AGAIN. I'm counting on this trip being different. While there have been many changes in my life, the constant feature always holding me back is myself. I've tried to identify the problems and I am working on solutions or modifications so I can succeed. I'm not running out and buying a ton of "diet" food, but will be working with what is currently in the larder until it is gone. Currently, though, no deserts or snacks around so that is a help.

So success will come through discipline, redirection, and a desire to annoy as many of my family members as possible.

Defining my triggers:

1) Lack of exercise: This will never really change as I have always hated physical activity even when I was in the shape to do it. But, I'll start walking more and finding other ways to move the body. But, thanks to my work schedule, walking or riding in the dark just isn't appealing.

2) Lack of meals: I need to break the habit of only eating one meal per day and only after work. I have never liked eating breakfast. It takes my body several hours after I wake to reach the point that food is appealing. Then at work, if I stop to eat lunches, it is so hard to refocus on the job. This behavior has to change through shear willpower, because it leads to my 3rd point.

3) Stop eating out / binge eating : A high stress job, a long commute, and not eating all day means by the time I start to relax enough to eat, I am starving. Reheating leftovers, cooking something, or eating a salad just doesn't sit well with what my body is demanding and my brain takes a vacation from not being nourished. So I end up at fast food, eating too much, then promising myself tomorrow will be better. This stops.

So that defines my triggers and issues. I have tons of recipes, lots of ideas, and have had successes before - this time it has to be a lifestyle change. Good luck to me.

Good idea to know what your triggers are so you can make a plan of action! One step at a time.
