kingkeld's Journal, 19 April 2012

Good morning!

I know, it's about time I put some effort into writing a proper journal entry.

I've been out sick, and really haven't had the mental capacity to gather my thoughts enough to write.

Today, I'm better. I'm on my exercise bike, Tabby in hand, journaling away. It feels good to be back!

I was so kicked out of my regular habits that I even forgot to weigh in on Tuesday morning. It wasn't until the afternoon, liters of water and several meals into the day that it occurred to me. Of course any weight in at this point would simply be useless information so I chose to leave it at that and simply skip. The trend both yesterday and today will be what I use to indicate that weigh in. I'm 80.7 today, and a little higher yesterday. Probably the same Tuesday.

Coming home sick Monday, my body was screaming for calories. I guess this happens when we are low and our bodies need a helping hand. I gave in an snacked away to feel better, and surely also from self pity. It's no fun feeling sick.

But after Monday I've been on track all week, and probably even a little low on calories. I chose to be low, as I haven't had the strength to exercise until this morning.

The result so far is that I'm heavier than what I like to be. I feel sluggish, because I can feel the excess weight (water?) weighing me down. I want it gone, and gone fast. So I'm on track, doing right. I'm on the bike, burning a little extra and getting my metabolism going. It feels nice.

...

I got a letter from the hospital yesterday. They have evaluated my case, and they are offering me surgery, the "big" one! This means that they have deemed it reasonable to remove a "belt" of excess skin all around my lower body, do a tummy tuck and the whole nine yards. Nice. So I am now on the waiting list, and supposedly it'll take about 4-5 months to get there. That's okay I can wait. Sure, I'd love to have it done right now and get it over with, but waiting gives me two huge advantages:

1. It's free. A private hospitaler charges around 15,000$ for this surgery. Getting it done this wasnis absolutely free.
2. The longer I have a steady weight, the safer the operation will be. If I am in a weight gain phase, then the skin will stretch, and if I'm still losing weight then my body will not have as many "building blocks" for recovery.

So it's maintenance all the way for me. I think I'm already doing okay on this. I can live with the fluctuations though I STILL wish they were at a three kgs lower weigh in.

I will simply keep working towards the as kgs as always, hit it now and then and be happy with that. The weight in on the day I went to the hospital was 75.8 kgs, and I have no urge to beat that one at all. But if I couldn't between that and 77,it'd be perfect for me, mentally and physically.

It's like there is a sweet spot for me around 77 kgs. My body simply feels happier and lighter at that weight. I'm not sure if it's a mental thing - it could be. It's difficult to tell.

Anyways, enough of my ramblings for this morning. I've done half an hour on the bike and this has to be enough for today. I don't want to push my luck and wear myself out before I eve get started. I feel good though, I feel that I'd have no trouble going another 30 minutes.

Today I'm thankful for:

- Being back on the bike.
- journaling! I've missed it!
- feeling better!
- a letter from the hospital!

Happy Thursday people! Life is good!
