1 pound of fat = 453.592 grams x 9 (calories per gram) = 4082.328 calories.
We all know that part of what you lose when you lose weight is water - which is zero calories. Is that the difference in calories between the fat and the 3500 to lose a pound of weight?
Zoe Harcombe - Author of The Obesity Epidemic: What caused it? How can we stop it? and The Harcombe Diet: Stop Counting Calories & Start Losing Weight; among others; asked several of the decision makers of food advice - NHS, college of Dieticians, Nutritionists and so on where the 3500 calories had come from - none of them knew. They each passed her on to another agency.
It's a bit like the 5 a day for fruit and veg. That's a made up number. Some countries say 10 others 6, some say 5 veg plus fruit. The truth is that we have NO need of fruit and veg - our body doesn't have minimum number of carbohydrates, but they're useful - cavemen may not have had much chance to eat root vet & fruit - harvest is Autumn and they help to put fat on for winter shortage of food - but we don't eat the roughage that cavemen ate either.
The answer - there isn't ONE answer. Eat what suits you, what satisfies you, what helps you to lose weight. And always remember you are an individual, so what works for you won't work for anyone else - some may only have to do minor tweaks for it to work for them - others will fail miserably at your diet.
Keep the faith, you know what's best for you. It's okay trying different things, but don't believe anyone that tells you something is guaranteed to work for you because it's worked for others - even 1000s of others.
Have a good day everyone.
(This is mainly to remind me when I get disheartened at some of the foodstuffs people put pictures of up and still lose weight)

It's the same with the 8 cups of water. That was just a made up number by someone. I make sure I get plenty of fluid but it's not always in the form of glasses of water. I try to eat some veggies everyday, sometimes a bit of fruit, because I do believe the vitamins and minerals in them are good for you - and I like the taste of course. I could never follow someone else's diet. I make up my own as I go along, tweaking here and there 😊

People who lose weight and keep it off usually make up their own Doobrie. When it comes to the water - I drink way more than that - but Tony drinks very little. Also food has a water content too.

Well said mini!
I follow my own path, but get inspiration and advice from others and do my research.
After finishing the complete guide to fasting, I'm now if the opinion that u have severed insulin resistance..
I have spent the whole summer with very long tyke carbs, drunk very little alcohol, had no chips/ pasta/rice and avoided making st desserts and still weight the same as I did in May..
I guess it's just gonna take me longer, but we'll get there together 😁👍

We will poppy - I find that the fasting is about the only think that works for me, as soon as I eat again I put weight on. So I'll stick with the fasting. It gets easier every time - and who know's one day I might be able to do one day eat, one day not and maintain. One day

Otherwise, you inspire me with your fasting.. I looked at my new packet of almonds ( to break my fast) and put them I the cupboard 😁
