kingkeld's Journal, 29 March 2012

Momentum is still up! I am down 800 grams since yesterday, and this today brings me into the 77's! I am almost there!

77.8 kgs to be precise today. So I need to drop 900 grams more before Tuesday to reach my goal. This should absolutely be accomplishable.

Actually, my concern about reach the goal is not whether I can make it under 77. I think I will be there by Saturday morning. I am much more concerned about STAYING under until Tuesday morning. I think I can do it, simply by doing what I've been doing, but who knows?

The thing is, I'm so used to doing Indulgence Day on Saturdays, and naturally I will skip this coming Saturday and just do as usual. I will try to emulate a work day when it comes to food. This requires virtually no snacks, and that's gonna be hard on both Saturday and Sunday. I'm so used to snacking on these days, but I don't want to "fill me up" and thus "weigh me down".

So the trick is to eat VERY reasonable meals those days, and of course the other days until the final weigh-in.

It's really interesting how I've been able to push the weight down in the 77's simply by putting my mind to it. It's now much I have adjusted to do so. The only real thing is a slightly tougher portion control, and no late evening snacks.

I'm pretty much always within my RDI, and my calorie intake really hasn't changed much. I think the thing that gets me to the goal right now is no heavy food intake after dinner.

Lately, I've taken to doing a home made ice cream or smoothie, staying within RDI. However, they do weigh some - the smoothie is 400 grams or so - almost a pound! Even if it doesn't add fat to my body, it still has some weight to it.

This is of course superficial weight. However, this is where I need to pull the last few bunnies out of the hat to make it. I have almost no fat left to lose! My smart smart scale is now showing the stats again - which means that I almost got rid of "excess" weight in shape of food in my system, water, etc. The scale freaks out on me when I weigh too much compared to my fat percentage and gives me an out of bounds error, which I read as a failed attempt to read body fat due to it being too low for the scale to work it out.

Well, today the fat percentage was measured at 5.4%. Damn. That is LOW. It's really weird to see that low a number. I know it's probably not the "real" number, but it's a ball park number and I'm sure it's not ALL wrong.

The scale I use measures both upper and lower body. It has a handle that you hold, and metal thingys to stand on, on the scale. So it measures from feet and through the body and out in your arms. It's a little different from the ones where you just stand on them, or the ones you just hold. These supposedly only measure lower or upper body fat percentage. This should do both.

Today started off with me being on the wrong food. I ran out of rye bread, so breakfast had to be changed. I will buy bread on the way to work, so I can eat a proper meal when I get there. I will bring my eggs. I can't go through the day without my eggs. :)

This morning I opted for oat meal instead, and boy can I tell the difference. Of course, it's not as big a meal as I'm used to, but I can really tell that I haven't had my bread and eggs (I guess the protein) yet. I'm looking forward to having it when I get to work. I'll make sure to have time for a little quick meal.

I did 30 minutes on the exercise this morning too, just to burn a little extra calories, and to wake my body up. I really like doing this in the morning, compared to the evenings. It's a good "get-going" thing, and I feel great afterwards. I've been on the bike Tuesday (60 mins), Wednesday (30 minutes) and today Thursday (30 minutes). Not bad at all.

Today I'm thankful for:
- Joe Bonamassa back on DVD again. I think I will be watching this show a LOT!
- Being able to resist late night snacking, and seeing CLEAR results on the scale.
- 77's! Woohoo!

Happy Thursday! Life is good!

Great job on getting to 77kgs. -:). Just shows you what snacks do to us... Maybe this is a good discipline for the future. I notice if my DH is busy, he doesn't have many 'snacks' and therefore looses weight. If he's 'bored', out come the snacks.

I see the very same thing happening to me, Pam. Also at work. A quiet day I want to graze all day, a busy day I only have my lunch. I do have "emergency snacks" at work, but they are super low calorie, like sugar free gum or 1 calorie licorice pieces. I do see, however, that if I keep higher calorie snacks around, they'll be gone in a day or two.

Good job avoiding the snacks! Have you made any extra plans for the weekend? Maybe keeping busy will keep your mind off of the upcoming events and help distract you from skipping indulgence day.

You can and you WILL do it!!! If you get the urge to be snacking, just think of all of your buddies here on FS who are rooting for you. Picture us slapping that snack right out of your hand.. :) If you start to get bored and want to snack, get on that exercise bike or take the wife out for a walk!!
