chesgreen's Journal, 16 September 2017

Happy Saturday.

Taking a quick break from Ken Follett's 1978 novell, Eye of the Needle, while listening to Beethoven's Septet's In E Flat Major,to get onto FS to log my data and get back to the novel and light classical audio stream so if you ask me about the book, I'll gladly give you a brief overview ONLY when I've completed it by mid Oct.

In Aug, my avg net carbs were 102 grams
In Sep, I planned to drop this # by 40% to 60 grams and 16 days in, I am at a 70 grams daily average. I WILL GET TO THE 60!
In Oct, I will drop this an additional 40% to 34 grams.
I cycled my carbs intake, in Aug, Sep and plan on doing this in Oct.
Self-Experimentation is KEY!!! ((Speaking of which, I haven't run in 2 1/2 weeks, no worries))

This my approach. I don't need to be at this magical 20 grams of carbs to see results. Taking action, logging and analysing and making changes if necessary THIS is how we get the results we want. That's it PERIOD. ((Thanks FS members who told me to log. I should have listened Eh, 2014 when I joined FS and it was suggested by those with results to show. Silly me. It's called a proven track record. Working on my proven track record right now))

By the way, Gary Taubes, Why We Get Fat and What to do about it, NAILED IT!!!
Specifically Ch 11, A primer on the regulation of fat. This is the mic drop chapter... Yep, Lippincott's 5th Edition Biochemistry, Ch 23 Metabolic Effects of Insulin and Glucagon confirms Gary's work.

My major in college should have been Biochemistry not Engineering. Then again, I would have been one of those highly paid scientist working for big food or big pharma. I would be lean because I know know what biological factors regulate the amount of fat in our fat tissues. Oh no. If this was the case, I wouldn't have never joined FS and have you all in my life, my journey.

This took too long to write. Closing the chromebook, shutting off the music and jumping on Suzy for a quick one. (Suzy is my motorcycle)

Onwards

Yep Ches, over the last 4 years and 130 some pounds lost I can confirm that logging EVERYTHING and continuing to log, even after you may take small breaks from it is the best one habit for success. Because until you know what your habits are you can't change them.🙋🏻

Ilike the checking numbers approach too, I tested various carb intakes and stayed around 3-5 which works for me. Ideally, I would like to do 30 but I don't always hit it.
