Jill-gill's Journal, 28 February 2010

I abstained from a trough full of my mums roast potatoes today. How good am I ? I was sorely tempted, but just had to remember my mantra that it lasts as long as you eat it but the disappointment lasts all day. I did however have a large glass of wine, drink just doesn't feel like too much cheating although I know it is. But if I didnt allow myself the odd glass of wine I don't think I'll survive!

You did good. Be proud. It is so hard,I know. You could have had the potatoes and the wine and you didn't. You will survive. We all will. I just wish it wasn't such a struggle. The other day I had a "girls day" with my daughter, sister, and neice. We had a blast but I felt like I had to keep explaining everything I did. I questioned the waitresses about the food, ect.(we ate out for lunch and supper!) They teased me and said they thought I was addicted to water. Everyone keeps saying drink more water. I usually drink at least 100 oz. per day, sometimes more (1/2 my body weight in oz. of water). It seems the more I drink the more I want. We had a joke going that they would have to do an intervetion for me because I couldn't give up the water. Everywhere we went I had water. I even had a few mixed drinks and beers throughout the day but I had to have water at the same time. I know the alcohol isn't good for the diet but it was a fun and special day but I drank way more water than I did the alcohol. Sometimes I think it is embarrassing but then it makes me proud because I know I am trying to make the right choices. And it turne out, even though they teased a little, they were extremely impressed with me. My sister even bragged on me the next day about how good I was and how great I am looking.

I'm with you on the wine. I know it keeps your body out of ketosis for a while - and I've really cut down as a result of the diet which is good - but the occasional glass of wine helps me keep to my overall plan without being tempted by other things! Well done on the roast potatoes front :)
