Beautiful Sunday morning at 61 F and calm. I decided to make this my first run outside without a flashlight. So, I got up about 6 AM, did a 15 minute jog on the treadmill to warm up, then headed outside for a 5 mile run. Took it pretty easy the first 3 miles, keeping my heart rate under 150, and kept the last two miles between 158 and 162 BPM. Seemed to give me a pretty good workout, since I was already pretty tired before I started the last two miles.
Between working on an old tractor and doing rennovations in the schoolhouse, I kept plenty active this weekend - probably indulging a little more than I should have, but not to extremes. Anyway, plan on entering the work week a little stiff and sore, but hey, at my age, that just means I'm still alive. Toodles!

Well, Sazy, I think getting the job done outside is easier, like you said, because there are more distractions to make the time go by faster. However, I think that running outside is more physically demanding, and it hurts more when it's over. :) Running on the treadmill is tough - because there are only so many things you can do to break up the monotony. I think the treadmill is great for 30 minutes or less, or if you want to do hills or speed workouts. It would probably be better if I put a TV in there and watched music videos or something like that. I like using the treadmill to get warmed up before running - like I did today. There doesn't seem to be as much jarring out on the road if my joints are already warmed up. Rose is doing much better. She's anxious about waiting on the rest of the test results to determine the level of treatments she will have to go through. And she still has to get a bone density scan for the oncologist to determine whether she has to go through chemotherapy or not - at least that's the way I understand it. We actually went and she picked out a new bicycle, so we can go riding together. We haven't done that for years. So, things seem to be moving in a good direction. Thanks for your thoughts.

Your run sounds great DK.... I am hoping to do more outside now... (I am a bit of a whimp and don't like the cold, wind or rain LOL). Hope Rose doesn't have to wait to long for her results ..... Getting a bike... Yeah.. That will be great for you both - to enjoy a bike ride together :-).
