lostwaistline's Journal, 01 February 2012

Ouch! This is the second day in a row that I have eaten an indulgence bar and my stomach is killing me! Very gassy, painful bubblies, and other disturbances while in the bathroom..

Has anyone else experienced this from the bars?

Thanks!

Yes, you are so right h4h! I haven't been able to eat anything since I ate the bar @ 3pm today :( Lesson learned!

I had the same thing happen with coffee but haven't had trouble with the bars. I've been finding myself being drawn to them though which could be bad too since it seems like they might be a trigger. They have saved me a time or three when I wanted badly to make a poor food choice, but overall I plan to not make them a regular thing. Sorry your tummy is against them so strongly. Feel better tomorrow!

Some people are more sensitive than others and some like me develop stronger sensitivities over time. I used to be able to eat one full serving per day with no problem. The effects are cumulative per day so most should be careful eating even more than one serving per day. But then I developed sensitivity to maltitol and now can't eat even one full serving of most sweets sweetened with sugar alcohols, especially Maltitol and even worse is Lactitol. I'm better off without them any way. It's a mental thing. Sugar is an addiction. Break it now while making big changes. It only takes 21 days or 3 weeks to break an addiction or habit.

@Dani: you are right about it being a trigger - but I think it is natural to crave sweet things once in a while since we were most likely raised that way...a reward for me was always dessert for eating my supper, etc. @DLynne: you are right about a habit is a habit and it is time to break it - and, it is funny but I have been primarily a savory person and the only time I CRAVE sweets (or anything else for that matter) is when I feel I CANT have them! Thank you for your comments! hugs
