Sandy701's Journal, 20 December 2011

3.3 miles walked today in SHORTS!!! We'll have a few warm, cloudy, drizzly days and then we'll go back to more seasonable temps with sun.

Today, I was proud of myself for actually working out the scheduling so I could go walking prior to taking DH to his eye appt. Then, when it began to rain in earnest (where IS Earnest, BTW....LOL!!), I could feel all smug that at least I had already gotten my exercise in!

I finished up the small gifts for the others who volunteer at the thrift shop with me on Wednesdays. I did up a few extras just in case there are some extra workers. While there's a pretty regular crew there, there are often others who pop in to help out because they just had some free time on a given day or they want to make up the time they can't give on their regular day, or something similar.

While DH was at his Dr. appt, I headed off to Kohl's again to pick up one more pair of jeans. While I bought a size 12, just for kicks, I tried on 10's. Surprise, surprise....they actually fit me! While some gals would have worn them, I feel they're just a bit too snug to really be comfortable for me. But I'm still pretty darn amazed. The flip side to this coin, however, is that my 14's from many, many years ago fit about the way these 10's did! Never known for consistency, anyway, it just goes to show what has happened to women's sizing over the years - vanity sizing!!!

Bren, his eye doesn't require surgery....for now....not perfect, but improving, so the Dr. is optimistic, but wants to see him again in 6 weeks to re-assess.

My son who lives in Orlando is coming home for Christmas on Thursday. The weather there has been great according to him. I think he will be freezing here. Extra blankets on his bed! The temps will be in the 40's really moderate for this time of year, no snow in my neck of the woods.

Well - you are so full of good news today - of course good weather in the middle of winter tends to do that. Very grateful that your hubby's eye is improving. As far as the 14's fitting like 12's - that is part of the mind games played by the clothing industry. They are making the sizes bigger to keep you coming back buying the 12's (when you really wear 14).

Lisa, he WILL be chilly, as I get chilly when it's in tyhe 50's now....a far cry from me handling below freezing temps when I was growing up. Hope you have a great time with him at home.

Notfast, that's one thing about these mega-swings in temps....keeps the laundry basket full with a lot of half-dirty clothes!

Buffy, I really don't even care much about one size vs. another...I just want to be able to find all my clothes in the regular section, not the plus section. Been there, done that, don't need to do that again.

Wow, that is fabulous, Sandy! Congratulations!!! Perhaps the jeans from years ago have shrunk, since they are cotton, and they are truly size 10's now! Glad that hubby's check up went well, and hope that you are having a great Wednesday!

Woo Hooo, she's out strutting her stuff in SHORTS, in DECEMBER, mine are packed away & my snow pants are ready...me, I am praying for snow! I bet it felt good getting into those 10's...it'll be single digits pretty soon. Don't worry so about those dratted size tags...just take a good look at YOU & make sure to notice how happy you are. So glad DH is at least OK for now.
