baacs's Journal, 20 December 2011

Well, what a start to the week.

After not particularly eating great last week (I still lost weight, but I just don't feel I ate as well as I could have) I decided that this week I would be back on track. Last night as I was preparing dinner (jacket potatoes with fish and salad) I got a phone call from my partner to say that his father had been taken into hospital because of a suspected stroke.

Obviously my dinner was put on hold. My partner picked me up and we went off to the hospital. His dads ok, very scared, but he's awake and quite lucid. He's had a series of tests done and we are just waiting for the results.

By the time we got away from the hospital it was really late, so we just ended up getting a chinese. Not great for my diet. We got in and my partners brothers came round and we had a bit of a family gathering and kept everyone up to date with whats happened.

I'm hoping today I can eat a healthier dinner, my partner and his brothers are going to the hospital straight from work tonight so whilst they are there I can sort out dinner.

Fingers crossed that he's up and about pretty soon, would be great to get him home for Christmas.

Hoping it's a TIA (like a mini stroke)for your partners Dad. My Dad had a stroke and recovered very well, it's all about catching it early and him being well cared for in a good stroke unit. At a time like this we have to remember...this is a way of life, not a diet. In life things happen, a chinese was a good call for you both in those circumstances. As long as you didn't order enough for 6 people, ate enough for 3, then had the leftovers for lunch you can forgive yourself. I hope the fortune cookie was uplifting. I hope all will be well, wishing you all the best XXX
