I don't know what my problem is, but I've been hungry ALL DAY!! I am drinking and drinking cause I've heard sometimes we can't tell the difference between hunger and thirst. This is the first time since surgery that I have felt hungry...didn't think that was supposed to happen since the stomach doesn't produce ghrelin, the hunger hormone, any more.

I feel you, I guess in this situations try to get less calorie stuff?.. if you stuff yourself with celery or brocoli or whatever can fill you with the less calories on exchange will help, also try to take a nap and if you are still hungry after it then go for lettuce or little rice cup, anyway..wish the feeling passes away, but if your body is speaking I think is good that you listen.

Actually, ghrelin is also produced in the pancreas, so you're still getting the signals. Simple rule of thumb: if you feel hungry (tummy rumbles) eat a little. Not until you're stuffed, but until the hunger signal goes away. SLOWLY. You have a new digestive system, and it's going to take a while to learn to work with it, not against it. The new hunger is probably a sign of healing, which should be seen as a good thing.

Rhontique, do you still eat chia seeds? Some times this cures my hunger. Chop up an apple throw it in the blender, add 1 and half cups cold water cinnamon and a teaspoon of vanilla splenda and a tablespoon chia seeds. blend up and drink down. works for me for hours.

I definitely think if you feel really hungry, it is better to eat something sensible, like a small meal, something that fits in with your plan, rather than letting that feeling continue. Because if you don't, if you're anything like me, you may end up uncontrollably cramming cookies into your mouth!
