10 days ago I tried a different program on the treadmill called "Pacer". Basically, you set the treadmill to "run" for a set distance and at a set speed and you see if you can beat it.

I've tried the Pacer program 4 times in total so far. I set it to "run" a mile at 3mph. Every time I've done the program I've managed to shave a number of seconds off my time. My times have been...

17/11/11 - 14:19 - average pace 4.1mph
18/11/11 - 13:57 - average pace 4.3mph
23/11/11 - 13:33 - average pace 4.4mph
27/11/11 - 12:43 - average pace 4.7mph

I'm really happy with todays attempt as I managed to run for 3/4 of the program. I ran over half a mile at 5.5mph (roughly about 6 minutes), which is a personal best for non stop running. Then I walked for a little while at 3.5mph and I finished off the program running at 6mph. Not a great deal of running, but I never thought I'd be able to run for 1 minute without stopping so it's nice to see my stamina increasing. Now just to be able to run the full mile.

If I can do it, then anybody can. It's totally pyschological with me. Yesterday I ended up covering up the display on the treadmill because as soon as I see that I've done a quarter of a mile or ran for however many minutes, I just have to stop. By not being able to see how far or how long I've been running, I just keep going. I know you can do it, just take it steady and build yourself up. I started running 30 second blocks then walking 90 seconds, then eventually built up to 1 minute, then 90 seconds etc etc. Good luck!

That's a pretty cool approach to it. Well done. :) I wish I had a treadmill at home. I need one. I'm not sure how much noise I would be making on it though. I live on the 3rd floor and our floor/neighbor's ceiling is kinda "shaky". I think it probably wouldn't be fair to them.
