Hey, 225.0 lbs. again this morning! Maybe I have broken through. It is inevitable; I smell victory! Ran last night on the treadmill and walked at a lively pace this morning. I try to get my workouts done in the morning for this reason (and I understand that some don't subscribe to this philosophy). Your body burns carb, then fats, then protein in that order - based on how efficiently it gets its energy. When you run in the morning before breakfast, your body has pretty much burned up its carbs from the night before (if you are eating moderately), and then when you get on the treadmill, or do your Zumba, or swim, you go almost directly into fat burning mode. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Now, carbs is what gives your body the most sustaining energy, so just keep in mind that when you start out working out with a deficiency of carbs, you're not going to have all the energy and endurance you would have otherwise.

I married my wife for her looks...but not the ones she's been giving me lately!

I hear ya DairyKing. I try to fit in a couple morning workouts a week. It feels great to get it out of the way. That's my plan for tomorrow morning. I just got to drag my butt out of bed early enought to get it done and get to work on time.

I can't bring myself to workout too early, I already have to be in work at 6 a.m. so I usually work out in the later afternoon after work. On my days off I get to the gym earlier, like around 9, and its so jammed packed at that time.

I hear you Jenn. I used to get frustrated when I went to the gym and I spent more time waiting on a machine than I did working out. And if it wasn't that, I would get into those circuit machines, and then some clown would decide he wanted to do three sets on the machine I was ready for - so much for the aerobic benefit of quickly moving from one machine to another. Those kind of things drove me to moving it outside. I began to run in all kinds of weather - rarely would the weather keep me inside (and I'm a woos in cold weather; I just learned to keep moving). I did pushups, situps, squat thrusts and such at home, and got in the best shape of my life. The comaraderie is nice in the gym, and I liked the eye candy, but I just decided that it was taking too long to get the job done.

I like going to the gym early as well but I can only manage to do this on the weekend. So during the week I go after work and it still feels great but yes it's much busier at this time. I plan you continue at the gym for my year term and throughout that year start buying things one at a time (like a treadmill and weights)to be able to work out at home after the year is over. I will run outside in the summer and spring but when it gets real cold outside (-35) it's too hard to keep warm and control my asthma at the same time, so that's why I'm planning on buying a treadmill.

Good for you Tarla! Does you gym have an indoor track? I know that the gym I was going to had one, and the YMCA had one as well. They were short, but long enough to get the job done (and it never snowed inside that I can remember). LOL! Sometimes I am just too funny! :)
