peppymint's Journal, 01 November 2011

The last 10 days have potentially been the longest of my life.
The loss of a friend isn't an easy thing, paired with her wake, funeral, and 4 days of travel for work.
I've been a little preoccupied, so my healthy eating has slipped significantly this past week and a half. There are 20 days to go until my half marathon, and my goal weight of 135 by the race is technically within reach, but I feel it slipping through my fingers.
I really want to start over with a higher protein/lower carb diet, but I also have to 'carbo-load' in two weeks for the race.

I'm thinking that this will be my running plan for the next few weeks, broken down:

Tue 1 - Rest
Wed 2 - 4 miles
Thur 3 - 8 miles
Fri 4 - Rest
Sat 5 - 3 miles
Sun 6 - 5 miles
Mon 7 - Rest
Tue 8 - 9 miles
Wed 9 - Rest
Thur 10 - 5 miles
Fri 11 - 3 miles
Sat 12 - 10 miles
Sun 13 - Rest
Mon 14 - 5 miles
Tue 15 - 3 miles
Wed 16 - 11 miles
Thur 17 - 3 miles
Fri 18 - 2 miles
Sat 19 - Rest
Sun 20 - RACE DAY!!!!! 13.1 MILES!!!

Also, as for eating, I will stick with a higher proten/lower carb diet (aiming for 40% protein 30% carb 30% fat) from Nov 1 through Nov 14.
I will change diet to 50% carb 30% protein 20% fat from the 15th-20th to ensure proper glycogen storage for my race!

I'm doing this for you, Lauryn. <3

'Do not stand by my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you awake in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush,
Of quiet birds in circling flight.

I am the soft starlight at night,
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there, I did not die.'
