I am back from a long weekend to Washington DC! I have to say that I am a little bummed. Although I didn't track my food.... I walked miles and miles all over DC, drank tons of water to stay hydrated, packed plenty of low carb snacks, didn't eat anything bad, and my ketosis strips showed dark purple all weekend and this morning. Not only did I not see a drop, but I am up a pound. I was so proud of myself that I stayed focused even though I was out of my routine that I thought I thought surely I would see it pay off. I can only hope there is a little delay and I will see a drop in the next couple days, but I was disappointed to see that this morning.

I hope so. I am just a little frustrated. The evil part of me is thinking that I should have just eaten whatever I wanted since it was a "vacation" and dealt with the consequences! LOL

Ketosis strips don't actually measure whether you are in Ketosis or not and don't measure your "level" of Ketosis. You are either in Ketosis or not....period. They're made for Diabetics. Just use them as a general guide and nothing definitive.

Thank you for the kind words everyone. Mahjohn....I know how they work, but I have used them for a long time and have definitely noticed a correlation between the strip results and what I have been doing. If I see them get light I can always go back and find that I have overdone my carbs or have indulged too much on sweets (low carb). I use them as a tool to control what my body is doing. They do not work for everyone in this way, but it does work the way I need it to.

Just keep on track and don't be discouraged! Like you say, it may pay off in a day or so.

Don't be discouraged Sierra. There will always be little ups and downs, even when we are home tracking and logging everything. Our bodies are crazy machines that sometimes react in ways we don't expect, for no reason at all. It will all even out. Just focus on your great trip...:)
