Good morning, FS Warriors! I just got back from worship practice. Yesterday was intense! The night before, I had worked on course assignments until 1:30 AM and didn't get to bed until 2:00. Woke up yesterday morning at 4:30, couldn't get back to sleep, so I got up at about 5:15. Read for 3 more hours. DW and I got outside and planted a Blue Spruce tree, a couple of Snow on the Mountain plants, a hydrangea, some pampas grass and a bunch of annuals. Then we began mowing and trimming. By the time 4 o'clock rolled around, she was too tired to cook, but I wasn't too tired to eat, so we headed to Dairy Queen. I had the new chicken bruschetta, and yep, I ate the French fries, and even had a blizzard. I know that I shouldn't have, but we never even paused for lunch.
I still had homework that kept me up until past midnight. Of course, if I hadn't spent so much time working outside, I would have been done earlier, but I have no regrets - except that I didn't get out of bed until 8:00 this morning. I found that my day starts way too late if I sleep until 8:00. So, this is retirement, huh? I went to Tractor Supply and bought a bunch of cattle panels (I don't have cattle), to replace the wire fencing I have on the north side of the property. The dogs have been getting out. They don't go anywhere; they just want to see what's going on when I'm working on the other side of the school. The wire fencing just isn't rugged enough to withstand weed eating, or the dogs trying to make small holes bigger. So, I think I will be tearing down old fence and putting up new. I've only got to do about 150 foot; the other is tall chain link that was the original fence for the ball field of the school. With all of the rain we have had, the grass got almost a foot high in places in just 4 days. Thank goodness for the tractor and the rear mower deck that I could raise and make multiple passes.
Anyway, I plan to be busy today. BTW, this morning I made a breakfast smoothie and substituted Honey Bunches of Oats cereal for the rolled oats. That way, I eliminated the sugar and the vanilla extract. Used frozen berries and a banana. It was delicious. I guess it's not for the pure nutritionalist, but worked for me. Wishing you all a great day; Toodles!
