Looks and sounds delicious! I'd never thought of espresso ice cubes for a smoothie. Thanks for the idea.

Okay, that's something I could do. Espresso cubes? Do you have a bialetti pot or something like that? Just pour the espresso into a tray? (This might seem obvious to you. I just hate to waste good espresso.)

Just brew espresso... pour into trays and freeze. It works!! The consistency isn't as smooth as a Frappuccino, but it didn't cost 5 bucks either. I think I may play with the liquid to make it stronger, maybe 6 oz of almond milk and 2 oz of cold espresso. But, yeah. And for a treat.... I bet you can add some chocolate chip, or caramel flavor syrup. I mean, if you're into that sort of thing. A++

Oh, I could really be into that sort of thing. In fact when I was 230ish, that was absolutely my thing. This looks like a good one. I'm a quad shot of espresso guy so, it would likely be a whole try of cubes and regular milk. I wish I could have this as a post workout treat, but I'd never get to sleep. I'm going to go make the espresso cubes now for tomorrow morning. I'll have my protein espresso shake tomorrow morning while I watch the snow fall.

Oh oh... it's over 4 Oz for sure. I'm a quad shot gal, and I brewed more than usual, and had to brew twice to fill the tray. So 8 cubes was way more than 4 oz of espresso. It was love. I have vanilla protein powder, but I bet chocolate would make it...... MOCHAAAAAAA. :D

I love my protein shakes - I do fresh berries that I have frozen - with unsweetened almond milk and vanilla whey powder - also yummy like a shake! Frozen espresso cubes would make a great morning one for me....

I use a plain PP and just toss in some cocoa when I make a bulletproof mocha. @HCB My favourite is 2 scoops of protein powder, a frozen banana and a cup of frozen huckleberries. I'm drooling at the prospect of a fresh huckleberry crop this summer. That and the fact that there are black bears in the patches makes it doubly delicious. Gallons of berries and wandering bratwurst sausage just waiting to be brought home.

I have vanilla. And I have huge bags of frozen blueberries, mango, strawberries that I use. Sometimes I go all one fruit, sometimes I mix them. And I also throw in ground flax. But not in the coffee one, that might be weird. Where do you find plain???

It's a Canadian brand I think. It's called Leanfit. I think we picked 8 gallons of hucleberries last year and probably 10 gallons from our raspberry patch. I like the banana mixed with almost anything and it helps it go further. This year I'm determined to get every raspberry frozen and hopefully get about 15 gallons of huckleberries. I've traded services for firewood so I will have the time for the berries instead, which is much more fun. Berries already have a pile of fiber. Gotta love 'em. My issue is that I also love them with ice cream. :(

That... is a lot of berries. I just go to Walmart. :)

Our ice maker is broken, so I buy ice. Because a tray wouldn't last around here, especially in the summer. So I finally put the trays to use!!
