7 months I've been holding a menu for sushi in my area. Finally allowed myself the pleasure of going last night. The food was beyond my expectations, it was so yummy. Didn't feel bloated when done either. I only had 8 pieces of sushi with some miso soup, and the sushi was a mix of eel, shrimp and crab with avacado so the only high carb part was a small bit of rice.

Now that I'm close enough towards my goal weight I've allowed my food base to expand. I really need to test out lots of different foods and see how they affect me and taste if I intend to keep this weight off for the long long term. I'm hoping in a few months to shed the rest of this weight, staying lower carb most days, but also allowing myself other high carb items if I crave them occasionally. I've had no issues returning to low carb after a day or two of free eating, in fact after yesterday I wasn't hungry for breakfast till I'd been up 3 hours, and my body wanted eggs, bacon and strawberries. So I'm actually craving the low carb foods, so it isn't a struggle to get right back on plan after I deviate. I no longer enjoy fried foods or overly starchy foods and fast foods just taste downright nasty to me now, and I crave fruit and veggies and healthier items now. Also stuff like cookies and whatnot taste so overly sweet I can now longer enjoy them (which means the long long term maintaining is quite achievable for me). Even if I don't lose these last 13lbs by the end of October I'm happy I have made the right choices for me, to be able to be healthy and stick to it for the long term.

Sushi was one of the things I missed when I was in the most restrictive phase.. then I discovered something they call a "salad roll" at my sushi place. It is spicy tuna wrapped in thin slices of cucumbers. 100% Atkins worthy. I eat a couple of the pieces my kids eat...and the salad roll and I am a happy sushi-er :) I think your journal is right on... after all our hard work... it is nice to not fear the treat of eating food not 100% low carb.. it ain't no big thing any more!!! Way to go!!

This place also had a few rolls that had no rice, just fish veggies and cream cheese, but I was gung ho for eel (which I hadn't had in 20 years), so I will be able to go back without too much deviation from the plan.
