Climbing out of an emotional stupor! Feeling better today...sorry I have been absent the last couple of days. Forward march!

Have not been recording foods, but have been faithful - and have been trying to get to the gym every day, or every other day - depending on my schedule.

This morning was 30+ min's of just Cardio on the treadmill. Varying speeds/inclines for a nice healthy get your blood pumping walk! :) Always serves to make me feel better, to just feel alive.

Found a great article about supplements, low carb, and exercise - and BURNING FAT - which I posted in the group I'm in about Exercise and Motivation.

Last two times at the gym doing my weights / routine... I felt like I was dragging my butt from one exercise to the next. Not really sure how effective any of that effort really was... but determined to figure this thing out for myself... I went looking for information!

Oh, to be armed with information!

Check out the article if it interests you.. I am off to the drugstore, to see if I can find my new list of supplements. I will be trying this for 2 months to see how it helps overall. If the scale would actually start going back down, I will be re-entering OWL soon.

Hope you are all safe, and away from harm w/ Irene... thinking we will just get a gusty rain here...but we'll see!

Much Love.

So glad you are feeling better, you certainly haven't been absent, you are one of our biggest cheerleaders, even when you aren't feeling so good in yourself, that is hard to do. So a huge thank you hope you will start coming down soon, you are certainly working hard enough.... Love and {{{HUGS}}}

Hey Sophie, Buffy and Bren! Good to see you guys too! Buffy - the rough patch and the supplements are totally unrelated. :)

Maybe not as unrelated as you think, Paula...I only read the first part of that article you posted but it did mention the challenges of low carb dieting & strength training, hence the need for supplements. A carb-cycling program like mine doesn't need anything beyond the post-workout whey protein because I am regularly restoring glycogen. Even so, a complete week-long break from all exercise every 10-12 is a good idea to allow the central nervous system to recover. I just learned this from my trainer when I had asked him his thoughts about the best way to handle the break I just took. He mentioned how after many months of training, even if the physical progress is still occurring, it's common to mentally have difficulty staying in that zone, & I can attest to the fact that a complete break from EVERYTHING gave me a nice fresh start. Not suggesting you should take a break or anything, just that I know you exercise faithfully & even if you don't take a break from the low-carbing, a week-long break from exercise (both strength training & cardio) might help recharge you. Got any vacations planned?

Hey Kat - great stuff! ok, the 'rough patch' was reference to the 'emotional stupor' I was in (as noted at the top of my journal.) (too personal to go into now...but definitely unrelated to WOE.) As to the ROUGH PATCH I have been in weightloss / exercise wise... Yes, I agree wholeheartedly! That's how I got to this article. I had taken a one week break entirely from all weights/and cardio. (but was eating LOW carb Induction levels - trying to get my weight to budge downwards.) Upon returning to the gym...I found my energy was zapped. And particularly when using the weights. Which is why I was looking for articles such as this one to help me. BTW - this guy (I believe) is a low carber at about 100g's / day - not as low as I am typically, but I am willing to try the various supplements and techniques he describes to see how they work for me. And finally - yeah, going away this upcoming weekend for a nice couple of day break to a cottage by the lake! yum!
