Ok I have tried about a dozen different diets this summer. I am sure that all of them would have worked but I couldn't comit to them. I have simply avoided what I have to do and that is to exercise. I have had health issues making it very difficult to exercise. The next thought would be to watch what I eat more closely. Well really there is about a million different ideas on weight loss so I never knew which one to believe. I would start Optifast in the morning, then by noon doing Weight Watchers and at night simply throw in the towel and go into emotional eating---which felt good temporarly. Well I know what I have to do. I have metabolic syndrome which is a sure sign that I have to give up or cut back on carbs, the love of my life! By eventing on a low/moderate intake of carbs "diet" I would head to the kitchen and eat ice cream for fear I would b e unhealthy if if didn't get more carbs! So at least now I am comitting to restrict my carb intake to under 50 just for today.----then maybe I will comit again tomorrow. I have to be honest with myself that the high starch foods are not for me anymore. Throught the years my body has changed and I don't need that kind of food (starch and sugar). I do need meat, healthy fat and vegetables. I can do this.
There is a woman at the gym that was asked how she lost so much weight, she did not have much weight to lose. Her response was I eat fat! She said that she is now eating fat and exercises only 2-3 days a week and she has lost weight! Sounds Paleo, or Ketogenc to me.

She definitely sounds like my kinda girl! Diet is 80-90% of weightloss. The older we get, the more carbs dislike us. Remember you have to have either carbs or fat to digest protein, and burn for energy. Good luck on your journey, and congrats on the loss! :)

I do LC and have lost 18 lbs in 6 weeks, but you have to do it for YOU ,and its not a diet ...it is a WOE (way of eating) for life,I eat 20 carbs or less, started by following dr Adkins book(picked up at Goodwill) and than looked at myself in mirror and knew only I could change myself ,and I could fail myself...but it was up to ME. You can do this, set goals...Yes just one bite of poison(sugar and carbs) will hurt you!!!Its like antifreeze ,they say it has a sweet taste but you know it will kill you,WELL that is what sugar and carbs are doing. YOU have support ,this group is great,we are all in this.

I have done very well on ketogenic approach this year - but you must also eat very very low carb when you increase the fat to 70%

I have a lot of medical issues that make exercisng very hard. I managed to do some - at least walking - after I've lost some of the weight. But yes, LCHF worked wonders for me. I wish you luck.
