Anita Cocktail's Journal, 23 August 2009

So I already splurged this morning. I woke up thinking I'd really like a bagel since I've been skipping them and eating my oatmeal every Friday when they bring them in at work. I did eat a whole wheat one but had real cream cheese. The net result: I didn't feel deprived but it also wasn't as good as I thought it would be and am less inclined to eat one again...also, I'm feeling a bit bloated as it's the most bread I've had at one time in a long time.

On the bright side, had dinner with my folks last night and actually ate fish. The thing is, I don't like fish...I don't dislike it but I don't LIKE it. I've never had that "I'd love some fish tonight" moment but when it came to ordering last night I thought that it really was the best available choice. I allowed myself to tap into flex points - something I also haven't done and had a dinner roll and some mango sorbet (though only half of what I was served) - I think it was worth it.

I'm feeling really sleepy today so I think I'm going to hang out and read the paper for a while and let myself digest and then go to the gym. The weekend didn't work out for me - the BF had no power on Friday night and woke up yesterday feeling really crappy and cranky (I think he was a bit dehydrated) and cancelled our visit. I'm feeling very frustrated about that BUT my parents were amazingly complimentary last night about how pretty I looked and that they can really tell I've lost weight. My dad (who has been the source of weight criticism my entire life) said I was "getting a nice shape". I suppose that makes up for not seeing Joe a bit.

Tomorrow is going to be a very long day - gym in the am and then working late due to a meeting that begins at 5:15p. They're serving dinner and I already checked with the woman who does the ordering - we're getting Baja Fresh salads and wraps so everything is healthy and manageable.

Hope everyone has a lovely Sunday!

I didn't do much of a workout today...just 15 mins on the elliptical (a fast paced warm up) and then lifted so I don't have to do it tomorrow morning...but at least I did something.

I understand about the fish, I seldom order it anymore. It's probably because the fish lately (last 10 years) tastes more like a synthetic plastic than the real thing.

Funny about the bagel - once you know how many calories they are they don't quite tast the same I agree.

I'm not a fan of fish either. I have it at least twice a week usually, but never excited about it. I do like that my tilapia filets are only around 100 calories, so I can add in a sweet potato or maybe some other higher calorie vegetable I like on nights I opt for fish (it allows to accessorize with foods I like that I don't get to eat as often, lol).
