HerStrawberri's Journal, 27 June 2011

It's hard for me to keep track of my TOTAL carbs when people keep changing the info. Especially for Atkins bars. I just got a snotty email because I changed the info to what it says on the package. I GET the whole net carbs thing and subtracting the sugar alcohol and all that...but I feel the nutritional info should reflect what it says on the package. I guess I'm the minority. Just had to VENT.

I got one of those email and then started entering the food in my own and clicking the "Do not share option" that way I know that my food journal reflects what is on the package and now what someone else wants it to say. I wouldn't worry too much about the person who got all snotty with you just go enter it in your way and make it just so you can access it.

Why don't you just create your own personalized entries for that stuff? That is what I've started to do. I don't trust half of the entries on here anyway.

I thought it was supposed to show what is on the package and that the site then calculates net carbs based on the information entered. Maybe the difference is the sugar alcohols. I don't eat them anymore so I have never noticed. Still, did not realize you would get emails over things like that...

I didn't know you could do that!!! I just put in the info for the bar in question. THANK YOU BOTH for the info!! I guess maybe I should of known that, but I didn't. =)

Esimnons~ I didn't realize that either. I do now. LOL.

I did notice back when I started on the site that the carbs for eggs were wrong. I had to search through several entries to find the correct carb count. i wish there was a way they could lock down some infformation so people could not change it. Then let people input their own versions in a more open format

You should be able to enter the numbers on a label without having to endure snotty emails. I enter those things in my own do not share also. As for those Atkins bars, the reason that they are able to put in such low carb counts is the subtraction of the sugar alcohols, but what they don't understand that some can't handle the SA's and so we need to count them...they are not FREE carbs for us, they cause us to stall big time. Have a great day, and don't worry about someone who is such a snot, they aren't worth your time! Have a great day!

Don't feel bad Strawberri it took me from August until the end of Jan to figure it out but since then I Feel alot better as the food I am now using matches the packaging completely.

Hey Strawberry - sorry to hear someone would be rude like that! No need for that. Nutritional labels, and using them accurately as a tool, is part of what this community is about, not one individual's personal ownership of how data is entered for a particular food... so in my humble opinion, change it back! ;) Much Love.

Enter your own and don't share it. I find that to also be an issue on the serving sizes available to select. I enter alot of my own stuff then I don't have to worry about picking inaccuracies.

Yep, what they all said :)

HerStrawberri, how rude some people can be. esimnons, what are the correct carbs for eggs?
28 Jun 11 by member: Helewis
Heather, they can range on packaging from medium eggs to x-large, .5 - 1.5 / egg. US packaging rules allow them to say 0 carbs if it's < 1. On average I just count One Carb per egg.

Thank you everyone! I'm totally going to use that add function and keep it private. I mean, I GET why they change it...I just didn't think changing it to what IT ACTUALLY SAID deserved a rude email. I have to count ALL carbs. I also think, like CTLSS said, they are NOT empty carbs and you need to count them. Especially if you eat alot of those bars. I only eat one a day, but some people eat alot of them and that could add up. Anyway, thank you ALL!

Just a head's up, that even one a day can cause a major slow down or stall in SOME people... keep an eye on your progress, and if you feel you need to, eliminate them for a month and see if it makes a difference. :) Much Love.

I have been reading ALOT of info about that JS, I've been thinking about going through July without having any to see if they make a difference. Thank you so much for the info!! =)

I never used the bars... but saw this being the culprit so often w/ people, that I just decided not to risk it. Had my own issues w/ other stuff... read my journal today, it'll make more sense.

That person needs something else to do. I enter what it says on the package. We all use this site as a tool to help us, and if someone doesn't like the way that it is entered they do it themselves and do the do not share thing. There is someone that ALWAYS has some issue with something. And for e-mailing you a snotty e-mail about it. Wow...I wish I had that much free time. I just don't feel the need to be snotty like that. They need to grow up.

@Jennifer2010 - Love it! Totally Agree.

Hey Dawn, So sorry someone was rude to you. I think the idea of being somewhat anonymous makes people more free to be rude. I agree with what everyone here has already written. Hang in there, you're doing great. Marti "Wazzy"
