lettygaylor's Journal, 17 March 2015

About 5 months ago I was at the library talking some friends of mine. And a lady came over and said that she was sorry for listening to our conversation but that she was a nutritionist and wanted to use my story for her clients. I told by all means go ahead. Well I ran into her at the store today and she came up to me and told me that she has been telling everyone the things I told her. My gym is part of the hospital here in my home town. And she even told the director of the hospital that he needed to come down and check out what we were doing because it was helping people! Awesome!

When people ask me what I do. These are the 4 things: 1. Eat healthy. This is the most important one. You have got to get your eating cleaned up. Otherwise you are just spinning your tires. One thing I do is on Sundays I will grill chicken and have it ready to go through out the week. Either for salads, wraps, soups, tostadas, etc. I also have salad ingredients all washed and ready to throw together. 2. Exercise. And change up what you do. Cardio and strength training go hand in hand. But don't get stuck in a rut because then you can plateau. Listen to your body. It will tell you when you are ready to try heavier weights or more intense cardio. Don't be afraid to give new things a try. You will be surprised what your body and do once you get it out of your head that you can't. 3. Drink water. I drink at least a gallon of water a day. I also have 2 cups of green tea. Not the bottled stuff but a tea bag steeped in hot water, and if you don't like it hot then take the tea bag out and let it cool. And if you don't like green tea, there are tons of different flavors of green tea. Without sugar. My doctor told me to drink green tea as it would help my metabolism. 4. Get enough sleep. At least 7-8 hours a day. By the way for me this was the hardest one. And I don't mind answering questions if you have any. To the best of my abilities I will try to help.

That is awesome!!!!!!, one thing that inspired me about you was the Doritos story on the porch and how much you have achieved since then. I used to love to eat doritos with pepsi and cottage cheese or dip on the side/ That was me as a pre teen then I lost weight at 19 when I went to weight watchers(at 19 I weigh in at 173-GOT DOWN TO 145-138) and kept if off until age 37, It was the last couple years age 40 to my present age of 46 I started packing on the pounds. But your story really hit home. You have really got yourself out of the glut and are now a FITNESS SUPERSTAR!!!!! Like many fatsecret Buddies of Mine, A true Inspiration!!!!

Good for you! You are doing great things and I'm glad you're here to be an inspiration and share what you've learned. You're close to your goal, so I'll be interested in reading your story beyond that goal. :)

Letty, thank you for sharing the secrets of your success. It is nothing earth-shattering, but it helps me to be reminded that by continuing to do these common sense things like eating right and exercising, good things will follow. I will have to work on that sleep though. :)
