moondove's Journal, 11 June 2011

I didn't eat timely today. I started out not having an appetite. Then the big hunger snuck up on me mid-morning, where I quickly grabbed the safest thing, an Atkin's bar (and, they may have contributed to slow weight loss early on). I almost did the same thing at dinner, didn't feel hungry when I should have, then almost waited to long to eat. I just began OWL but have been afraid to take that big step in adding the 1st rung @ 5 NC's. This is the 3rd day that I have chickened out. I will begin tomorrow with a better outlook and be successful at adding 'more' nuts, and going to exlude berries for now.

You are doing so well.....keep up the good work. I usually have a couple of days a week, just the thought of eating what I should eat I can't do it so end up just eating an Atkins bar for breakfast or lunch, so annoying, or I just can't be bothered to make something for just me. I just don't feel like eating at all. I still find that hard to believe, that I don't fancy anything at all.

Yvonne, Nice to hear from you. That is exactly how I feel. Nothing seemed good, and I was very busy in and out of the house. Got myself stuck away from home, but I had an Atkin's bar in my car (for emergencies). Came in handy... Hope you had a nice day... :)

You are doing well and your chart looks great. I don't know much about the Atkins diet but I know you shouldn't be afraid to add the first rung. You can do this.

It's a fine line to walk...figuring out how to eat just when you're hungry but also not allowing the hunger to get its claws into you. And, as a reminder, you can always start OWL by adding that extra 5NC in more foundation veggies, if you feel that's a safer start for you.

I am glad to know that I am not the only one who gets out of whack. I know what that is like to lose hunger and then it comes on with a vengence. I think you are doing great and I think you can definitely succeed on the first rung of OWL. Keep up the great work.

chattycathy1955: I started out on Atkins really well. Then had slow weight loss for so long (because my calories weren't up enough). I've got the system 'Wired' and just hate the thought of messing it up when I am doing so well. I think I will stick w/extra base veggies and nuts for the next week and then move to berries the following week if I do OK. Thx for the support! :)

Cheryl, I so know what you mean about being afraid to add those carbs back in! I went through the same thing and spent over a year on Induction. That is why I finally decided to dive off the deep end and go straight to 50-100 a day! Climbing that ladder can be scary, and for me everytime I tried to add 5 more carbs, I chickened out. I am quite sure that you will do just fine, Cheryl. You are a wonderful, strong woman! Have a fabulous week, my friend!
