BrandyRelaxing's Journal, 13 March 2011

Well today was weigh in day. I lost 1.2 lbs. I guess it's not as much as other weeks, but I have to come to the revelation that whenever I'm not totally excited about the amount of weight loss in one particular week, I just have to remind myself that I'm down 23 pounds!

Ultimately, I've been about 330-340 for the past 3 years, so I have to look at the absolute value... I'm only 316 pounds... that is totally amazing!! It's all a matter of perspective!

Today I have a more relaxed day, and will be able to fit in time for exercise, which I'm excited about. Two months ago, I would have found any excuse not to exercise, and now I'm looking forward to it, it's so bizarre!

Anyways, onwards to my shopping and running around, and then back home to exercise!

I always have to tell myself when i'm not thrilled with a weigh in, that any movement down on the scale no matter how small is better than it having gone up. I know I get my hopes up a little too much from watching shows like Biggest Loser and I Used to be Fat. They are great motivators as long as we remember they are not realistic. Would I love to drop 5-10lbs every week....well duh, i'd love it, but I have to remind myself to be happy with anything I've lost. We work hard to lose our weight and should remember to be proud of ourselves. Keep up the exercising...I've been a bit of a slacker myself lately :(

You know over the years and many attempts at "dieting"; I just wanted quick results - when I saw I gained, lost "only" a pound, or stayed the same I would just give up. Now, I don't care. I weigh every week. If I stay the same, lose, or gain. I know it is my body adjusting. I stay 100 % commented to my daily caloric needs (no dieting). Therefore, I know I did nothing wrong to be upset with myself. Keep it up. Day by day you are working on becoming healthier. Best of luck to you!

You are doing great and should be so pleased with yourself. All losses are good losses no matter how large or small. Our body goes thru many changes through the course of the journey, many we are unaware of. There are also many impactful things aside from straight calories in v out such as how much sodium you consumed, how little or much water you drank, are you building muscle thus scale shows slower losses. If you have not taken your measurements and some pre-pictures, I would do that now. Sometimes no weight lost will show inches lost instead, sounds weird but is very true. Stay the course, you are doing great!

Way to go Brandy, you are doing so great. I have found the same thing when weighing in if i really get excited it seems evern though i did the same things its less than i expect. I just know im eating right now so i try hard not to focus on it. Have fun shopping, keep up the good work and have a great day!

Thanks guys! I'm feeling pretty good about my weight loss to date. I just have to look at how much better my clothes feel, and I know I've made a lot of great progress!

Good job looking at the big picture! I've been a little annoyed lately by the pound here & there I've been losing, but then I have to remind myself that's how I got to where I am...a pound at a time. They add up faster than you think! :)

1.2 may not be as much as before, or as much as you wanted but go get 23 pounds worth of potatoes and carry them around for an hour lol its amazing how that puts things into perspective. So congrats on looking at the big picture, the small losses add up fast!
